Mark and Alonso had been looking for a line up like the one they had found with Dark Mirror since their middle school days. Dark Mirror was formed shortly after Mark met Alonso through the radio station, KULT 94.5lpfm at the University of Northern Iowa. They both played heavy metal over the station's airwaves and when the topic of musicianship came up, Alonso informed Mark he used to perform vocals for an Iron Maiden cover band in his homeland of Chile (in South America for the Geography majors out there). A 'Jam' of sorts was set up and Mark was amazed by his ability, and the rest, as they say, is history. The deal was sealed in 2005, in St. Paul, Minnesota after a Joey Belladonna concert, the conversation that ensued about the death of their childhood hero Dimebag Darrell truly inspired them to give this band their all.
Dark Mirror strives for musicianship and are proud to be carrying on ideals set by the most professional of hard rock acts from the 70's, 80's and hell, why not the 90's. They believe in true-to-life recordings, putting out material that is strong from beginning to end, within and throughout. As far as live shows go, that's where the power of Dark Mirror comes into full light. The crowd is equally as important as the group on stage, since we feed off of their energy, translate and transmute that energy and send it back in waves of face-melting, gut-pounding, soul-soaring awesomeness. We are them and they are us. That's why Dark Mirror prefers the live stage above all; it's where the magic happens.
"If you were not able to see any of the NWOBHM bands or bay area thrash bands in their early days, you owe it to yourself to catch a Dark Mirror show!" Randy, of The Metal Show with Randy and Ace on KDPS 88.1fm. Des Moines, Iowa, or streaming anywhere you have internet access.
