First of all, I was totally expecting someone to post "why is this in the metal forum?" Imagine my surprise when I discovered that I would be that guy to at last point it out. Weird. But yeah, why is this in the metal forum.
What are you talking about? It's NOT in the metal forum; It's in the "Let The Music Do The Talking" forum which is where non-metal band discussion is supposed to take place.

I think I'm going all in on Oasis and Liam's and Noel's solo albums. The other day I listened to a new song—"Blue Moon Rising"—by Noel and really dug it. From there I watched a few interviews with him, then more songs, then I got onto some Oasis stuff, and really dug that as well. For the past few days I've been watching interviews with both brothers and it's all kind of fascinating, really.
What I've heard of their solo stuff didn't really grab me. Noel's the better songwriter but he's not as good a frontman as Liam, and vice versa. So I think what really made Oasis work was the combination of the two.

I'm not a Beatles fan. I don't hate them, but they don't do a lot for me, you know, so I've always kind of just not paid attention to Oasis since they were called a second-rate Beatles. From what I hear, though, they quite different. Yeah, the influence is there, no doubt, but they don't really sound like the Beatles to me. Or maybe they do and I just don't know shit about the Beatles. Who knows? Really digging what I'm hearing, though.
Yeah, I never thought Oasis sounded that much like the Beatles. They didn't have the harmonies are variety that the Beatles had. That doesn't stop them from being a good band, even though I prefer others from the Britpop era.

That's the first song I heard. Love it!

Interesting. I kid you not, it showed up in the metal forum for me when I wrote that.

So I got three of Noel's solo album and one of Liam's right now. All really fucking good. Noel's stuff on the three I have aren't very different from the Oasis stuff, nor is Liam's for that matter. Seems that Noel is experimenting a bit with the newer stuff.
Still quite interesting, this whole saga. I mean, these guys take digs at each other like crazy, even now. It's like a weird soap opera. Haha.

This band never appealed to me so I never bothered pursuing the solo projects.
To me they always sounded like Beatles-wannabes and since I don't really like the Beatles either I just never bother with any of the band or solo projects.

Huge Beatles fan here and a fan of Oasis. I can without a doubt hear the huge influence John, Paul George and yes, even Ringo had on the Gallagher brothers. Doesn't bother me though. Good music is good music.
I have a few of the Gallagher brothers solo releases and I like them too, although I'd probably lean a little more towards Liam's output. I think I'm behind an album or 2 with each brother.

Yeah, I'm really enjoying all their stuff. Definitely a Beatles influence, but they don't sound like the Beatles. To me, anyway.
And hell, I'm older, so maybe I'd dig the Beatles now. It's been like 20 years since I really listened to them.

I don’t think they sound like the Beatles necessarily either but something in their sound or song structures has a Beatles like quality to them. Which suits me fine.
