Just got back from seeing YOB at the Down 'N' Out in downtown Los Angeles. KILLER show! These guys are just amazingly heavy. Mike Scheidt coaxes incredible, otherworldly sounds from that guitar, he's totally in the zone for the entire show, almost like he's in a hypnotic trance. He can scream his lungs out too! Rhythm section was spot-on, crushing throughout.

I'd go see these guys again in a heartbeat, just brilliant experimental doom/drone. They played 6 songs "Ball Of Molten Lead", "Prepare The Ground", "Burning The Altar", "Kosmos", "Grasping Air" - each clocking in around the 10 to 15 minute range, plus the epic 25 minute track "The Mental Tyrant".

Nice!!! I remember you telling me about them before I went to one of the days at Maryland Death Fest, and I got there too late to catch them

Hopefully my new job (I will be posting a topic in Usound Mind later) works out well and I'll have more money and be able to go to concerts again. Hope all you guys enjoy your live experiences.

Stygian Sky and North End Metal All Stars were awesome! I actually recorded Stygian Sky's song "Serpents of Rebirth" and will post it in the near future.

How was the show Metalguy?? Going to see it on 11/2. How was the Down show Nevermore? Missed Tremonti this weekend, heard it was a great show. I had no idea Wolfgang was playing bass for him.

I didn't see The Sword yet. It's not till November 12th (?). I just purchased my ticket last week. Didn't mean to confuse anyone.

Nevermind, I'll let you know how they are! Never made it to Philly last week, we got the grand tour of Amish country though. Almost took out a few buggies sliding around in horse crap in the road!

Trying to get to MSG on Nov-2 in Portland! I really want to see this show and at $25 you can't beat the price.

Down were great!! A lot better than I thought they'd be. They leaned heavily on the first cd (which is my favorite from them). Warbeast were pretty cool too! Mount Carmel were good but their bluesy hard rock didn't seem to go over well on this bill.

Tonight it's Death Angel, Threat Signal, Bonded By Blood, Wretched and Potential Threat.

Down put on an excellent show!, Phil was spot on & kept the usual random soap box smurf poo to a minimum. I Didn't know Warbeast's lead singer was the singer for Rigor Mortis. I talked to him a little after the show, he said a new Rigor Mortis CD will be coming out early next year.

Accept blew the roof off of Tremont, despite a small crowd, most of whom left before Kreator came on.

Good luck. I tried to like them multiple times as well, but it never stuck.

I don't think you can "make yourself" a Rush fan, they are the type of group you either get or don't. I first heard them when I was 9, fell in love with them immediately and have been a fanatic ever since. I've known many people over the years that have hated them vehemently. They tend to inspire either adulation or revulsion depending on the listener. I view that as a sign of great art.
