Glad to see Purple and Cheap Trick get in. I have probably said this before, but if they are going to induct bands/ artists that are not Rock and Roll then it should be called the "Music" hall of fame. The mixing of Genres and styles under one umbrella makes the owners clueless from the get go. Derek Jeter wouldn't be in the Pro Football Hall of Fame, so why would Run DMC go in the R&R HoF? They (the owners) need to turn down their noses and start nominating bands/ artists besides their faves. It would probably be better for business. Any paid attraction is about what the consumer (fan) wants and not the owners want to show off.

Who cares? I'm boycotting the RRHOF until Hellhammer are inducted 

I think we (the HoM community) need to get the funding going for our own Heart of Metal Hall of Fame! Then we can induct whoever the Hellhammer we want!!!

I don't know why they are called the "Rock n Roll Hall of Fame", when half the crap they induct isn't even Rock oriented. No Rap group or R&B band should enter before actual Rock bands!

Yeah, I read the Ian Paice quote on Blabbermouth. Hilarious! I'm glad to see both David Coverdale and Glenn Hughes get recognized. This might be the only chance for David Coverdale. I'm not sure Whitesnake will ever be given the time of day, as I'm sure those that vote have never heard anything before the album "Slide It In".

I am happy they are nominated but I agree with S.D. that Steve Morse should have been included, as I feel the late Tommy Bolin should be, he had a major impact on guitarist also.

Morse getting snubbed is not cool at all.

Would it surprise anyone if Blackmore pulls a no-show for the ceremony?

On one hand, he's playing a few rock gigs this summer, so it would look good if he showed up and made nice with everyone and got everyone excited by playing at the all-star jam session they do.

On the other hand, he's Ritchie Blackmore and does whatever the hell he wants.

Is the RnR Hall of Fame only limited to white english speaking bands, save for Santana (who I believe was in fact, inducted)? If so, what non-english bands have gotten that honor? I'd assume they have to have had a large international impact during their prime, but where it is that matters, is up to debate. Being a fan of asian music, I'd say X Japan, Loudness, and B'z would be worthy candidates from Japan, and had a big influence outside of the country in Asia specifically. But apparently, being only famous in Korea, Thailand, Vietnam and also to the 1 billion+ population in China doesn't count. I'd think some european metal bands that don't speak english may be worthy, but most of the ones that were notable enough were already known overseas and did albums in English. Still, I'm curious.

If you go back thru history very few foreign language songs have become huge hits in the US.  Of course there are some, but it's a rarity.  It's an American museum that focuses primarily on American and European music.

Richie Valens is in the hall of fame, his biggest hit was "La Bamba".

It's limited to what is successful and known in the USA with a lot of lobbying going on. I doubt you will ever see a japanese band in there because to that Hall of Fame the only continents that exist are North and South America and parts of Europe.

Also there is a lot of lobbying going on anyway. Jann Wenner, one of the founders of that laughable, dreadful Rolling Stone magazine is a higher up in the Hall of Fame and he basically controls what goes in and what doesn't. The best example was in 2007 when the last induction spot was to be voted between The Dave Clark Five and Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five. The Dave Clark Five won with 6 more votes but Wenner ignored it and said Grandmaster Flash will be inducted because "We can't go another year without inducting a rap act".

After all, one representative of the RRHOF even considers Deep Purple a "One-Hit Wonder" and therefore, as he stated back then, "it's unlikely they ever get in, despite their success in europe".
