That's what I like about this board too... I was surprised the first time I logged on how many metal fans around here were like me, with a wide variety of musical tastes. I recall in high school I used to listen almost exclusively to metal, but when I went to college I was exposed to a wider variety of music. For a while there I also listened only exclusively to alternative. But, now that I am older and (hopefully) wiser, I am not afraid to tell people that I am a huge fan of Morrissey, the Cure and Depeche Mode AND that I love Iron Maiden and Rush, as well as Pink Floyd and the Beatles. Good music is good music!

neuropete, I like bjork with the Sugarcubes and her first solo album (well US debut anyway) is a really good album IMO, but some of her later albums sound souless.

EXACTLY!!! I used to be 'all metal - all the time', but then I grew up.

I still love my metal though ... don't get me wrong! It's my favorite!

But I have expanded my tastes is all! Seems like you and I have a lot of the same favorite bands. I also love The Cure, Depeche Mode, etc.

Good call on Bjork too by the way! I have her debut album and I need to take it out and spin it again actually. It's been an awfully long time since I've heard her.

Sugarcubes were cool too. I used to have one of their tapes back in the day. Not sure what happened to it though. I wouldn't mind getting some of their stuff on CD.

Joanne Hogg from Iona has the most beautiful voice I have ever heard in my life! Listen to this and tell me she doesn't have a beautiful voice (she can bring tears to my eyes):

Mary Black is also another great singer that we have over here, I'd prefer her to Enya at times.

It's nice and pleasant and she has a nice voice, but Iona seems richer and less airy and Joanne has a better range IMO. So as per the statement in ( ) I'm going to have to strongly disagree.
