I heard this remake a while back when Rock Band 2 came out. It was on there. Love that beginning and an amazing album as well..

Yeah it's from 2008 but this is the first time i heard it.

I like it. Great song.

That really makes a great song even better.

I agree. I always seem to like the originals better as well. Familiarity,I guess.

I like the original better too but it's cool to hear a different version.

I really need to find this cd used somewhere. I own it but its another one of those cds that looks like it has holes inside the actual cd. I only have 2 cds that have that. This one and a Morgana Lefay one.

Excellent song. Testament also do geat re-recordings of their own material.

One of my favorite Testament tunes, took me forever to nail the bass in the intro.

^^ Yeah, this sounds good, but it lacks the "razor" guitar sound of the original, and doesn't quite have the attitude. Does anyone else thinks it sounds a tad slower than the original as well?

I think it has more attitude and realism. Not so overproduced like those Atlantic records seemed to be. It is slower than the original, but it gives the song a bit of a groove. I prefer this to the original myself.

I prefer the original, and yes, the new version is slower than the 1990 version.

Yes, this was re-recorded for Rock Band 2. I think they need to have the masters to include a song there, so my guess is that the band probably didn't have the masters for Souls of Black (or access to the masters) and decided to just re-record it to make licensing the song easier.

Mercyful Fate did this with "Evil" for Guitar Hero Metallica because the original masters were lost. The version on GH Metallica was recorded in 2008.

I prefer the origional, mainly because Chuck's voice was much better during that time IMO but that was still cool.
