I recently added this album on my ipod and listened to it and man it's not as good as I said it was 2 years ago it's one of those albums you listen to that gives you a hit wonder indulgence meaning you listen to it like 5 times or so and love it but then gradually you get bored with it and and the cd then becomes a dust collector. Just you in case you were wondering I was the one who wrote that highlighted quote ultmetal put on the review. Well I got put off by the album ultmetal detected traces ofemo on it and he's right ok it's a small percentage but however after repeated listens I started cringe particularly when Rob has that horrible emo wine when he says I hate my self and I hate my parents" or whatever he says. I still think the riffs are amazing sure they may of been influenced partially by the trasy flavour of the month metalcore bands (Trivium, Bullet For My Valentine, etc) but they are still powerfull, heavy and intense. Unfortunately Rob Flynn has dropped his Burton C Bell (Fear Factory) esque voice to a Randy what's his name (Lamb Of God) esque voice he should of had a more Max Cavelera/Mille Petroza esque voice since since those guys do the best growls in metal

Personally I think the album is still pretty solid. It definately isn't another Burn My Eyes but then compared to the albums that preceeded it The Blackening is definately an intense listen.

I don't get the comparisons to the other singers mentioned though, Rob Flynn is still sounding more or less the same. Perhaps it's a delivery thing.

Got into w/mc "back in the day" before I even heard it. Just assumed it was crap. I was wrong. Much better than anything else I had heard from these guys.

I don't really like this band. I don't understand why these guys get that much of credit and marketing...
