| The man has an amazing voice, and he's wrote and performed some of the most memorable songs in history. Yeah, he's kinda lame, but I love his music. Their just nice little upbeat ballads, and their catchy. He's a guilty pleasure that no one seems to admit to liking, but somewhere deep inside, we're all Manilow fans. So come out of the dark and admit you're love for Barry. Don't make him wait

| He writes the songs that make the whole world sing, he writes the songs of love and special things. He writes the songs that make the young girls cry. He writes the songs, he writes the songs.
That said, I still want to kill him and drink beer out of his empty skull. _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

| Ugh, I guess schmoop's post in the Playlist thread wasn't a joke. This clown not only writes the songs that makes the whole world puke, he's also written some of the most annoying commercial jingles ever. For example, he wrote the music for State Farm ("Just Like A Good Neighbor..."), McDonalds ("You deserve a break today....") and Band-Aid ("I am stuck on bandaid brand...."). Three more reasons to hate the twerp. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| For better or worse, I'm quite familiar with his 70's output. I'm not sure what happened, but my father's record collection went from cool stuff like The Beatles, Hendrix and Iron Butterfly to Barry Manilow, ABBA and Charlie Rich. Maybe marriage and kids mellowed him out. _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. Now what I'm with isn't it, and what's it seems weird and scary to me, and it'll happen to you, too.

| I saw a commercial on TV today for Barry Manilow's gig at the PNC Bank Arts Center here in New Jersey later this month... and was like "Geez, I haven't thought about that doofus in ages, then I get reminded of him twice in one day." What are the odds? _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

I know your probably referring to his 70's "Countrypolitan" output which is indeed a little lame but that 60's Smash records stuff is killer. His Sun Records stuff ain't bad either.

| I will say ABBA sure knew how to write catchy tunes. One of the best tribute albums I've ever heard is the heavy metal tribute to ABBA. Rocked up more, those songs are great. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

His Sun Records stuff ain't bad either. ABBA will never, ever be cool in my book. Sorry, just ain't happening. As for Charlie Rich, I can't tell you about his older work. I just remember dad spinning "Behind Closed Doors" and giving mom a knowing wink. Ugg. Still sends shivers down my spine. _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. | BLECH! No even remotely a fan.
Never understood why so many metal fans like Abba either. I don't like them either.

My parents were the same way. In their youth they listened to semi-cool stuff like Elvis and the Beatles but by the time I came along in the 70s they were listening to Kenny Rogers ( ), ABBA (what IS it about ABBA?) and yes, shamefully, some Manilow. Oh, and the "Grease" soundtrack. (GAWD I HATED THAT SOUNDTRACK!) Sometimes I wonder how I still managed to turn out so cool with a musical upbringing like that. _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

Kenny Rogers sucks ABBA is one of my all time hated bands I'm not like a huge fan or anything, but Manilow does have a few songs I really like ...I like the Grease soundtrack.

Sometimes I wonder how I still managed to turn out so cool with a musical upbringing like that. Oh yea, I forgot about Kenny Rogers. I can still see that vinyl copy of The Gambler staring me in the face with all it's bearded, hairy goodness. Although in all fairness, it did teach me a valuable life lesson. I know when to hold 'em, when to fold 'em, when to walk away and when to run. Unfortunatley, I still count my money at the table. _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was.
