LMAO!!! This one too - “Obi-Wan never told you what happened to your father.” But they’ve already seen episode III, so it’s no big surprise. My kids already know Darth Vader is Luke's father and they haven't seen star wars yet!!!!!!

| I am glad I don't have to depend on these ones anymore *Phone books and Yellow Pages. *Taking turns picking a radio station, or selecting a tape, for everyone to listen to during a long drive. *Finding books in a card catalog at the library. *5- and 3-inch floppies, Zip Discs and countless other forms of data storage | |

| I remember several of these, just a few I'll mention here: 30: Blowing the dust out of a NES cartridge in the hopes that it’ll load this time. (don't know why it didn't mention pushing the cartidge up and down rapidly-always seemed to work for me) 33: Having to delete something to make room on your hard drive. (I did that just a few days ago) 57: Typewriters (my mom had one of those) 59: Sending that film away to be processed. (I'm glad that is dying out-developing film is too expensive when you take a lot of pictures-I still have 5-6 rolls of film that need to be developed) 63: Rotary-dial telephones (my grandma had one of those) 64: Answering machines. (we still have one) 69: Vacuum cleaners with bags in them. (still have them) 75. LEGO just being square blocks of various sizes, with the odd wheel, window or door. (that's how I always remembered them) 80. Starbuck being a man (I remeber watching that on TV when I was a kid-syndicacted of course) 87. Swimming pools with diving boards. (during my heyday-childhood through middle school-I always had access to a swiming pool-above and below ground-the dive board was always my favorite feature of the below ground) 91. Having to manually unlock a car door. (still do) 93. Looking out the window during a long drive. (some of my fondest memories are long car rides with wonderful scenery to view-I wish I could do that again, but driving and sight seeing are very difficult to do simultaneously-and there aren't many sights on my drives) | |

That's the way I remember'em too. My son (6 years old) is way into LEGO nowadays and you should see how bizarrely shaped some of the pieces can be. I told him that my old LEGO set from when I was a kid was just a big box of random squares and rectangles with a couple of tires and other odds and ends and he just looks at me like I'm a dinosaur. The sets are WAY more complicated too... each one comes with its own instruction booklet with step-by-step diagrams about how to build the truck, car, boat, etc. - kinda takes away the spontaneity/creativity of it IMO, but then again most of the time after my son has built the "real" vehicle a couple of times he'll use the pieces to whip up his own original creations out of'em too. My fondest LEGO memory was building houses and castles that I would occupy with my little plastic soldiers, and then eventually crush with the little plastic Army Guy Tank! _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

| I was a fan of Lincoln Logs, I used to build skyscrapers and smash them with my Godzilla action figure (the one with the claw that shot off). |

I loved Lincoln Logs, I remember basically doing the same thing except I used a Stretch Armstrong figure if anyone remembers those.

| I remember having Lincoln logs as well. I also also had Tinker Toys and , in the spirit of building toys, there was Dino Bones (I believe that's what it was called) where you had these dinosaur bones that fit together to be a dinosaur and could be re-arranged into various vehicles. Unrelated to building toys but something that comes to mind as far as obscure toys from the 80s, is Centurians, action figures with holes all over their bodies where various weapons and accessories could be placed. | |

Never owned the toys, but there was a really crappy cartoon show about them, which is currently in re-runs on the Boomerang channel... _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

Yeah Legos now are like licensed movie material now...I cant believe there is actually videogames based off a building block toy. I totally know what you mean though building lego cities and vehicles from generic pieces. I would always pull off a few pieces to show damage from getting hit by imaginary missiles and s***....aw man, good times!

We signed my son up for the "LEGO Club" and now he gets a magazine every other month and a catalog seemingly every other week. You should see some of the elaborate stuff in those catalogs... Indiana Jones, SpongeBob, etc. They have a HUGE "Star Wars" Millennium Falcon kit with about a zillion pieces for something like $499.99. _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

They have (or had) a whole section of the store dedicated to LEGOS. I had my picture taken with a life size Darth Vader made entirely of Legos. They also had a life size Chewbacca and I think they had the Millennium Falcon too (huge, but not life-sized ). It was a coupla years ago, so it was probably a tie-in promotion with the latest StarWars movie at the time. Maybe they have a LEGO Megan Fox this summer? _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. Now what I'm with isn't it, and what's it seems weird and scary to me, and it'll happen to you, too.

I haven't been to FAO Schwarz in years, but I can only imagine what the LEGO department there must look like. LEGO now has their own stores in some of the malls in this area (in fact, they mailed us a flyer about the grand opening of the latest one a couple of weeks ago), but we haven't taken my "LEGOManiac" son to any of them yet. If and when we do I will probably have to follow him around with a mop and a bucket to clean up the Wee-Wee of Joy he'd be putting out. _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

Haha...I remember being subscribed to that magazine when I was younger...those big monthly catalogs were like porn for Legoaddict kids. Geez 500 bucks?!?....I think the most cutting edge Lego themes they had when I was playing with them was the very first star wars generation of lego toys and of course the islander, western/cowboy indian, scary castle thing(I think they were called fright knights or something...) and space themes. I think I still have all of mine boxed up somewhere....
