My step daughter listens to all of this crap and it irritates me, I've gotten to the point where I want to banish if from the house completely . At least my 10 month old is saturated with metal, jazz, etc.

Lady Gaga did have a weird, squeaky Dale Bozzio/Missing Persons quality to her singing voice, if I remember correctly from listening to this the other day. That's about as close to a compliment as she'll get from me though.

Her two biggest influences are Queen and David Bowie, and she isn't just paying lip service to them. This is pure Mercury at the keys in all his pomp..........

My six year old niece is visiting with us today and she brought her brand spankin' new copy of the latest "NOW THAT'S WHAT I CALL MUSIC" CD with her. When the kids sat down to eat lunch she handed me the CD and said "Unca Keef, can we jam?" ... so I threw it in the CD player, albeit unwillingly.
...the CD just ended and Ho-lee CRAP, that was awful. Throughout the playing time I kept having to resist the urge to imitate Butt-head and ask "What the HELL is this crap?" At the risk of sounding like someone's Mom, is this what passes for pop music nowadays? I am unfamiliar with a good three quarters of the lineup contained herein, but to me it sounds like just about anyone with a drum machine and a Casio keyboard can be a star nowadays... Geez. Just look at this track listing of terror:
The Black Eyed Peas – "Boom Boom Pow" (3:38)
Flo Rida – "Right Round" (3:24)
Lady Gaga – "Poker Face" (3:57)
Pitbull – "I Know You Want Me (Calle Ocho)" (3:01)
Jamie Foxx featuring T-Pain – "Blame It" (4:21)
T.I. featuring Justin Timberlake – "Dead and Gone" (3:52)
Kid Cudi – "Day 'n' Nite" (3:40)
Soulja Boy Tell 'Em featuring Sammie – "Kiss Me Thru the Phone" (3:11)
Ciara featuring Justin Timberlake – "Love Sex Magic" (3:39)
Britney Spears – "If U See Amy" (3:33)
Kelly Clarkson – "My Life Would Suck Without You" (3:31)
3OH!3 – "Don't Trust Me" (3:12)
The Ting Tings – "That's Not My Name" (3:28)
The Fray – "You Found Me" (3:58)
Nickelback – "If Today Was Your Last Day" (4:05)
Lady Antebellum – "I Run to You" (4:13)
Charice – "Note to God" (3:59)
I tells ya, I was never so happy to hear a frickin Nickelback song towards the end of this torture session -- at least it had a guitar in it!! It terrifies me to think that there are 30 other volumes just like this one!!
I was gonna say haha. The only song on there i'd even consider listening to is the Nickelback song. I at least like a few of their songs.

yuck!
If I was Nickelback, I would be a shamed to be in that company!
I really don't like them, but at least they have 5 cents worth the talent.
I get a kick at these hip hop artists, all their songs have to have 12 different singers on them, featuring.....lol.
Country music is another, it's a disaster now, where do they get these singers? They need make an album for them called "White Guys That Can't Sing" ....Rodney Atkins, have you heard this guy? OMG, worst singer EVER!

Everytime they have a commercial for those crappy ass comps I comment "Now Thats What I Call Crap". Pop music these days sucks and is only tolerable when Wierd Al parodies them IMO.

Def Leppard hasn't had a hit on the radio in the last six months...otherwise they would've probably been on this thing. Instead, they gave us Nickelback, who are essentially Canada's answer to Def Leppard.

That Britney Spears track is actually called "If You SeeK Amy"...I can't imagine parents letting kids listen to/sing along with that one..."If You Seek Amy", when she sings it, sounds (intentionally) like "efF-yoU-Cee-Kay-Me"...

So what you're sayin' is that there won't be a "Kidz Bop" version of that song anytime soon...

Yes, what a complete crap-fest! - There's this radio-channel in Denmark called "Nova FM", which is a hit-song channel (well, like 90% of the radio material anyway), and I swear, they circulate the same 10 songs CONSTANTLY - Maybe once in a while they'll play something else, but otherwise it's LITERALLY the same ten songs, uncluding that awful Flo Rida rip-off "Right Round" and Lady GaGa. I loath the radio, especially because whenever there IS a good song, they cut it short, completely ignoring the great solo's and instrumental-work. One time, they even DELETED the whole instrumental/solo mid-section of a song, and skipped directly to the ending chorus - Jesus Christ, Instrumental work is dying as we speak.
And I completely agree with MetalGuy, there is absolute ZERO creativity in the songs instrumentally, and if you take the vocal track away, they all sound alike. It's f*cking stupid.

I give my sister weird looks when she's on the 'mainstream' radio station, which I recognize about 3/4 of the crap.
"Poker Face" is too catchy for its own good. I got very tired of listening to it really fast. x__x; None of Lady GaGa's other songs really hook me.
I actually like P!nk, but I like her 2nd, 3rd and 4th albums a LOT more. The latest just isn't really catching my attention, except "Mean".
Nickelback... uh, not too big of a fan of them, but I like some of their songs. "If Today was Your Last Day" ain't one of them.

But wait, it gets worse! My niece brought the soundtrack to "Hannah Montana: The Movie" over to the house yesterday. I put it on for her while the kids ate lunch, like last time. I guess if I had to choose between the "Hannah" soundtrack and most of the stuff on the "NOW" CD I'd pick Hannah, but it'd be like asking me "which would you rather do, slam your nuts in a car door or set your hair on fire?"
One funny note: while the "Hannah" soundtrack was playing a song came on that featured a male singer (no idea who it was as I didn't bother to check the track listing) and my niece sez "Unca Keef, you can skip this song." I sez "Why, you don't like this one?" and she sez "No, this guy sucks."
