| Hello,
I notice a lot of band missing and a ton of misinformation about some the bands on that site. I have been told by many that it is not a good resource. What is your thoughts on Metal Archives? Case in point: How come Barnabas is not included?

| I refer there all the time for information, and its all been accurate to my knowledge. I dont post there ever though, it seems like everyone there on the forums are geared to death/black metal solely and dont provide much room for anything else. | |

| It's a good site. They are really weird about what reviews they accept. I had several friends write reviews for Ultimatum's Into the Pit and they weren't accepted, including Kmorg's I think. I'm not sure why.
Yes, they are a bit weird about what bands they consider metal and what bands they don't. For years they didn't have Stryper, yet they had Dokken. Go figure. However, they have since added Stryper. They have Deep Purple and Thin Lizzy, but no UFO. _________________ ULTIMATUM - TOO METAL FOR WIKIPEDIA!

| Cool. Another glaring omission is no Ritual is on the site. That Crematorium Demo is one of the best 90's Underground Demos. | |

Sweet will you add Barnabas? They are a great early Christian Metal Band. I also have a few albums that do not have the album covers or song titles in them.

They rejected all 3 reviews I've ever submitted, including one for Ultimatum. Needless to say, I don't care to send any more reviews, but check the site for discography, band members, etc., from time to time.

| I've read your review. I still don't understand why it was rejected as "too personal". - Quote :
- First off, I would like to say the production (on Into the Pit) is the best so far. Scott Waters's vocals have never sounded better. I like the deeper end than some of the higher vocals he's employed in past albums. The riffs are terrific and memorable and the heaviest I have heard from these guys. The drums are also better than on the past albums, even though they used two drummers. I think I like the new guy a bit better. I was a bit let down by the drum sound of of the Mechanics album. The solos are great also. I listened to the album in my head phones and it was cool to pick up on the subtleties of the solos. The Iron Maiden cover is fine, but nothing spectacular. It has the Ultimatum stamp on it, and I guess covering Maiden isn't the easiest task when trying to please their fans. I think Ultimatum should make it a tradition of putting a classic cover song on each new album. Now the title instrumental track reminded me a bit of the early Metallica instrumentals, at the the beginning part at least. I sort of enjoyed the Mutamitlu instrumental a tad bit more from the last full-length. Also, since I was familiar with some of the songs from the E.P., it was great to hear them at full throttle. What else can I say? I got the Overkill album a day after this, and I prefer listening to this more than the Overkill. If that isn't a compliment, I don't know what it.

Exactly. I can't believe this was rejected. What do I have to do? I felt this was a decent review when I wrote it and it still sounds OK, nothing "personal" here but my own opinion. After this, I just figured they'd never accept any of my reviews.

| different mods there accept & reject for different reasons. there is no real set standard for rejection other than spelling/grammar or going off topic. chances are, if you resubmit the review sometime after the initial rejection, a different mod will accept it. _________________ | |

| I'm on their a lot. It's usually a good resource, but they don't except things for odd reasons. Also, they hate my reviews too, so don't feel bad. They say mine are usually too personal. Also, it really depends on who your moderator of the day is. Some go really easy on stuff. I've written about four reviews though, and I wrote them a couple years ago too, so they probably weren't top notch anyway. I think I'll start writing some more over the summer. I've got lots more albums now anyway. | |

Sweet will you add Barnabas? They are a great early Christian Metal Band. I also have a few albums that do not have the album covers or song titles in them. Barnabas will always be rejected, because they conseder them not-metal. You need to rip one of their metal CD's, and send it to one of the mods for submission. I'm not going to spend money on a CDr and the postage to get that done1! _________________

Any resource that's free, without some strong editorial control, is going to have this problem. Metal-Archives is still better than The People's Encyclopedia (wikipedophile). It's best with certain genres (trend black metal, speed metal) and worse with others.
