A lot of those albums aren't really that progressive. For example, I think "The Warning" is a great disc but only slightly progressive at best.

"No Exit" before "Awaken the Guardian"? I don't think so.

Amazingly, since you'd think randomness would be involved a little, but I don't currently own anything on that list.

I've owned/tried about 8-9 of those, but none are with me anymore.

11. Transcendence - Crimson Glory (1988)
12. Abigail - King Diamond (1987)
13. Nothingface - Voivod (1989)
14. ...And Justice For All - Metallica (1988)
17. The Warning - Queensryche (1984)
20. Awaken The Guardian - Fates Warning (1986)
23. Crimson Glory - Crimson Glory (1986)
25. Them - King Diamond (1988)
32. Perfect Symmetry - Fates Warning (1989)

80. Fatal Portrait - King Diamond (1986)

There may be 2 or 3 in that list I would even consider calling "progressive".

3. Aenima - Tool (1996)

Tool, to me, is almost exactly like Porcupine Tree. They both write long, progressive-like songs, but they are more of an alternative band than anything else.

I disagree. I don't hear any similarities in Tool and Porcupine Tree. Two completely different styles of music. Porcupine Tree owns Tool any day, any time.

I really need to start listening to more progressive music, I didnt know almost half the list. With the miniscuel knowledge I do have of prog metal and of the bands on the list that I knew. I would say a lot of those titles dont deserve to be on the list considering they arent progressive.

Legacy is the only Shadow Gallery album on there Shocked . I like Legacy, but Room V and Tyranny are the best SG albums and even Carved In Stone is better than Legacy. This list makes me sad in some places (although it is a better list than something from Hit Parader or Rolling Stone).

I find these lists confusing anymore. Metallica may have some progressive tendencies but they are a thrash band. I don't find King's X to be that progressive either. It's nice to see Atomic Opera make it though. But what about Zero Hour or Redemption?

Exact- Threshold is 72nd and 48th.

Really, King's X are as progressive as it comes. They fashioned out their own little unique style/genre of music themselves. Which even Atomic Opera occasionally delve into.

If that ain't progressive then i don't know what is.

Wow, since when have Metallica been a progressive band. I can understand ...And Justice For All havings some slight progressive leanings but it is not a progressive metal album.

I suppose this comes with having so many musical sub genres, the lines can become blurred at times.
