Def Leppard created one of if not the best album of all time (in my opinion at least) with Hysteria. Motley Crue never came close, though Dr Feelgood was great.

Neither have done anything worth while in a long, LONG time though.

I've got to go with Motley Crue. I really like the first three Def Leppard albums, but they lost me after Hysteria. Motley has always managed to at least keep me curious. Plus I have a lot of respect for Nikki Sixx as an artist; he's a really good songwriter.

true.. except when you pay to see a show. then the show matters as well. you want your monies worth. not just hearing the album played live.

In all fairness though, ultimately the boobies are on the girl's part. I actually don't think MC are much of an extraordinary live band per se, including the special effects ( I no longer go "wow!" when I witness fire beams). Ive seen worse, but visually I actually regard Leppard as the more entertaining band onstage.

Like many have already said, I liked both bands early on, but lost interest in both of them quite a long time ago.

Nowadays the only Def Leppard album I have on CD is PYROMANIA (which is the last album of theirs I gave a damn about), while I have two of Motley Crue's early albums on CD -- TOO FAST FOR LOVE and SHOUT AT THE DEVIL. Of the three, the one that gets the most spins nowadays is SHOUT. So I guess I gotta go with the Crue.

While I do like early Motley Crue, On Through the Night, High N Dry, Pyromania, and Hysteria will forever be classics to me. So my vote goes for DL by a long shot.

I've never seen Def Leppard live, but the 3 or 4 times I've seen Motley have been outstanding. Boobies!!

Agreed. I can't wait to see them again, they put on amazing live show (despite that I think they're a great rock band in general). I caught'em on the Carnival of Sin tour -- amazing spectacle. Topless fire breathin' chicks, the Motley boobie cam... Great stuff!

I would say Motley Crue, but I haven't heard Def Leppard's first two, or much of Motley Crue's later stuff, so it's basically old Crue vs. later Leppard, which isn't very fair.

Seeing Def Leppard in June with Whitesnake though.

Motley Crue/Red, White, Crue

Winner = Def Leppard. I like both, but Leppard's album gave us all knew material, where there were only 3 new songs on Red, White, & Crue.
