According to TMZ (so take with a grain of salt) he was found dead on his tour bus this evening shortly before they were scheduled to perform.

Not that we didn't see this coming..........

Bummer. Not surprising, but sad. Another talent wasted.

I really like the first STP album "Core". It's sad that he died...
Like Layne Staley, he couldn't overcome his addiction.

He was my second favorite vocalist from the "grunge" era... After Layne.

I know Phil Anselmo isn't all that popular with some on this board... But I hope he can continue to survive his past heroin demons.

Wow, kinda strange to wake up to this. I just gotta kick out of Weiland telling ISIS to F*ck off a couple of days ago. I saw Stone Temple Pilots on their first tour with Megadeth in January of '93. I've always enjoyed their music. Very sad...

I wasn't really a fan of anything he'd done since STP, but after reading Duff McKagan's book, you get a real sense that he had some loyal friends and it was only after he'd chosen his addiction over them that they had to back off.

Really a shame. You always kind of hoped he might have gotten himself together and been doing a book tour in ten years talking about hitting his "low point" and turning things around.

I guess he ran out of warning shots.

The first 4 STP albums are great, sad but not at all surprising. I am pretty sure we'll hear it was a heroin OD.

No surprise really, but still a shame.

Purple remains my favourite STP album.

Sad news. I was never a fan but it's never good news to hear of someone going down so young.

One of the very few bands I still listened to from the early 90's, STP made some seriously great music.

Purple is my favorite. Purple is almost purfect!

I would choose Core as it just kicks ass; then Vatican Gift Shop, then Purple.

Saw this coming a long time ago. Was never a fan of any of his bands and hated them to the upmost of extremes and I still hate them. Sucks that he died leaving children behind though.

I hated Stone Temple Pilots but he was a talented guy. I love this song and video which kind of sums it up really.
