The reviews are for a Double Stout black ale from Green Flash brewing in San Diego. Discovered it today at the beer store in town and i'm loving it.

I've had Green Flash's stout and I was underwhelmed. In fact I've had several varieties from Green Flash, all of which people raved about, and while they were decent I thought they were overpriced.  Haven't had the one you're having but based on my experiences with that brewery I probably won't actively look for it.  I might pick some up if I run across it though.

Yeah, I wasn't expecting much as a couple other by GF were ok but nothing to really go after but this one is amazing imho.

I'll keep my eyes open.

Currently enjoying the last "loose" bottle of Founders Backwoods Bastard; after this one I have to tap into the 2 cases I bought.

I really want to try their breakfast stout.

Their breakfast stout is simply great!

And now bassman has me on the lookout for their bourbon-barrel aged breakfast stout (not due until April).  If I find that I'm buying as much of it as I can afford.

I picked up one bottle of something called, Pay the Ferryman, Porter. It's ok, a bit thin. Glad I only picked up one bottle.

I've never seen that one.

It's from Mexico. I'd say it's a beginner's Porter. I like my almost chewy.

Same here.  And following up a stout with a porter will make it seem extra watery.  If you like "chewy" you'd love the Founders Breakfast Stout.

I'm aging several 4 packs of the 2013 Old Stock in my basement. This is one beer that really, really mellows out over time. I aged several 2012 bottles that I ended up consuming earlier this year and they were outstanding. I saw this brandy barrel-aged version in my beer store today and had to try it even though it's very expensive ($25 for a 500ml bottle).

I am reading "The Complete Joy of Home Brewing".

I think Kings Ale may be in my future

Just had some Guiness.

Oh, if I had the money, i'd be trying all those more expensive, aged beers.

Yeah, chalk it up to one of the advantages of having only feline family members.   They don't complain much when I drop $25 on a bottle of beer.

Picked up several bottles of Charleville's Box Of Chocolate. This is a unique beer I tried last year for the first time. It's a Belgian Quad brewed with real chocolate; tastes sort of like chocolate covered fruit.

Disgusting.   I don't like the combo of fruit and chocolate in any form.

Had this at dinner. Almost everywhere you go in Yakima they have this.

Let us know how badly it stinks. That's what keeps me from trying it; I've heard it reeks.

Took off work a little early today and had a late lunch with a friend.....and had my first Maudite.

Very tasty.....not as dark as what I usually drink, but really good.

Maudite is one of my favorite Belgian dark ales. Excellent IMO.

Almost finished with the Green Flash Double Stouts I have. Time to hit the ol' beer shoppe.
