My pick is a tie between Greg Christian (Testament) and Frank Bello (Anthrax). Honorable mention go's to D.D. Verni (Overkill) and of coarse Cliff Burton.

I've always liked DD's sound, but another bassist with a cool sound is Steve DiGiorgio from Sadus.

Was always very impressed with the playing of Rex Brown in Pantera. In the later years his sound got stronger, it has a real strong punchy sound which I like. I really enjoyed the 5 strong stuff he did here and there. That low BOOM

Cliff was the best metal bassist in my opinion, but some of his bass work with Metallica was kind of buried under the guitars, but I really like Overkill's sound as far as bass goes. Steve Harris from Maiden also has a nice sound. Long live Clifford Lee Burton

cliff burton is easily the greatest thrash bassiest ever and since thrash is the greatest music in the world he is the best in the world. and hell no pantera is not thrash they are the biggest sell out band in the world!
