Amazing to me that Oz Fox was so hush hush about playing guitar on that demo....

Tourniquet was the first Christian metal band that caught my jaded backslidden teenage ear. =)

See, my uncle had given me Petra and Stryper tapes, but with loving stuff like GNR, Metallica, Suicidal Tendencies, Testament, Anthrax & Maiden...those didn't do much for me musically at the time. (Although I enjoy 'em both now, Stryper much more so than Petra however)

So he just gave me a gift certificate and I found Pathogenic Ocular Dissonance. The cover art caught my eye and the title tweaked my brain...that was a turning point of sorts for me.

I've only ever heard that one Blairing Out song (on a compilation tape called "Cool Tunes" put out by Doug Van Pelt of Heaven's Metal back around '89 or '90)... they never put out an album huh? Too bad, cuz that "Porno People" track was my favorite song on that tape...

Oz really did play on it. It was kept very underwraps, due to contractual obligations with Enigma... Don't you remember back then nobody played in multiple bands like today. It just didn't happen.

It was a full on 4 song demo... All the songs had that same 'tongue in cheek' turn or burn humor.... ? That is a true treasure.... 'weeping and gnashing of teeth !!!" "weeping, gnashing, gnashing,gnashing, weeping, gnashing, gnashing, gnashing, weeping and gnashing of TEETH!!!'

Approaching Light Speed. It does rule, but then again, I love everything Barnabas released. They all rule, IMO. One of the best bands the Christian scene has ever produced, yet the "Christian scene" had nothing to do with it.

Yeah, thanks to my dad for introducing them to me...my mom makes fun of both of us for listening to them.

Well, I'm not going to say anything against your mom.... but I disagree....

Barnabas was one special band for me back in the day. Still are in fact. Kris Klingensmith is one cool dude as well as an outstanding lyricist and Nancy Jo Mann still rules. I wish I could get them to collaborate on one more recording, but it does not seem to be in the cards. Kris and Mick Donner were talking for awhile, but even that seems to have stalled.

We still have those five albums, though. That's something.

I just remembered another cool one, Kerry Livgrens A.D...not metal really though. I have the timeline album on cassette...another little jewel I inherited from my parents.

I remember when Timeline came out. Great album! Art of the State was a letdown for me, but Timeline was awesome.

Your parents have great taste, IMO.

I think so also. My absolute fav in the christian scene from my local Oregon area would be Servant though...I love the female vocals, I can't remember her name right now...but she was awesome! Way better then the guy IMO.

Now that I think about it, I think I have Art of the state also, I dont remember it being a total bummer...maybe I will pull it out again tonight.

Sandie Brock was her name. I saw them live in 1982 on the Great American Album Givaway Tour. Even roadied for them along with 30 other kids. We all got to meet and hang out with the band. We even ate a meal with them at a local church. Everyone got a black sleeveless T-Shirt that said "Righteous Rodie". Great memories.

They had a really great laser light show on that tour. Best Laser show I've ever seem with the exception of Pink Floud. David St. Holmes did a "drum off" with a laser-projected drummer that was great. They put on one heck of a live show.

There are plenty of great POWER METAL BANDS OUT THERE. SEVENTH AVENUE, LAUDAMUS, ROB ROCK, IMPELLITTERI, ETERNA, BALANCE OF POWER, DIVINE FIRE, NARNIA, MAGESTIC VANGUARD, HARMONY, GRAND LUX

I'm mad of BELIEVER "Extraction From Mortality", super album.
Also like all other albums and have on original from REX. + single R/C

Tourniquet if too great first 3 albums, have all on Intense.

The Crucified "same" super album, have it original.
and all other albums too

The Lead "Burn This Record" - first christian band i've heard (REX)

also have Living sacrifice (same), Armageddon (money mask), seventh Angel, Veni domine (fall babylon fall) are good but not so much great stuff.

Also have russian christian band NEW TESTAMENT (NOVIY ZAVET) split cd 2 albums.

I remember Barnabas being attacked (by the christian community) for one of the lyrics on Little Foxes - "Satan laughes your A** is mine"
