I agree with you completely, I think about 90% of the time the term "progressive" gets used incorrectly.  

It seems if a band uses keyboards they automatically get labeled as "prog".  

Bands like "Atheist" or "Meshuggah" are more progressive than many of the bands in this thread.

I dunno , not all prog is ultra complex or technical . I tend to prefer Prog Bands that create more atmospheric / spacey but still heavy songs than the ultra technical for technique´s sake .

Some of my fave new prog bands are Seventh Wonder and Circus Maximus , but I tend to focus more on the late 90´s albums , I think that was agreat time for the style ...

Couldn't find this dude anywhere. Professional industry recording artist, albums tracked in his bedroom. Some wild stuff, catchy, with beautiful mellow passages. I endorse.

I don't know how some of these guys do this shit, but Neal Morse has another huge prog project coming out. Sounds awesome so far!

Best thing about NMB is Eric Gillette playing for them.
