I used to be really good on it too. I played for 15 years and qualified to join the competition jazz band in high school (which only had 3 trumpets out of a school of almost 500 people).

I still have the thing but haven't played a note in about 25 years. I'd probably sound like Radar on MASH if I picked it up now.

if you play an instrument 15 years you are an animal, i jammed with a trumpet player only thing weird was learning what key he was in.

Oh yeah, I was majorly serious about playing the trumpet.

I took lessons from my aunt for about 3 years to get started. Then I took lessons from a pro for another 5 (the guy only had his right arm so he'd stick his "stump" into the horn to steady it). I was in the orchestra from grade school thru HS, the marching band from JHS to HS and the jazz band all 4 years in HS.

If the ska/punk boon of the 90s(Reel Big Fish, Goldfinger, etc) had hit when I was graduating, I bet I'd have ended up in a band.

Ah well...what could have been. Toho the trumpet player in a ska band....

But the guitar is timeless and always draws the chicks. Good luck to you my friend!

I had to find out what songs she really liked and luckily for me i knew them and dug them. Getting the nerve to sing them well I just had to go for it as i might not get another chance.

Goldfinger rocks and some of the horn parts rock. Yes sometimes we miss our calling as the times dont align

well like i said earlier i played a song she loves and a lot of girls do Heaven and Everything I do I do It For You by Bryan Adams. Then i played I Need You by Lynyrd Skynyrd.

Not a song that will make a woman swoon IMO. I'd have better luck playing the Monty Python theme on my trumpet.

I used to play the horn in jazz and symphonic band also Toho, I was never near good enough to go to competitions though...


Oh and Shamu, try playing some Ween for your lady, chicks stuff like that!!!
