| If this technology takes off, and I suspect it will, you can say goodbye to your cool ticket-stub mementos. Going Green my a$$!! Pfft! http://www.prnewswire.com/mnr/scoop/38673/ This article pertains to the upcoming Miley Cyrus concert, but I imagine it eventually could become the standard. Here's the Cliff Notes version...
All tickets will be sold exclusively through paperless ticket delivery which means fans will not receive a physical concert ticket for their entry into the event. Buying paperless helps ensure fans have secure and convenient access to event tickets at the original sale price. On the day of show, concert-goers just need to bring the credit card they used for the ticket purchase and their government-issued photo ID to the concert. All members of the ticket purchaser's party must be present at the same time to enter the venue. The venue's ticket usher will swipe their credit card upon entry and present each person in their party with seat locator slips for quick access into the show. To purchase paperless tickets or for more information, fans should visit www.ticketmaster.com/mileycyrus or call Ticketmaster charge-by-phone number at 1-800-745-3000. _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. Now what I'm with isn't it, and what's it seems weird and scary to me, and it'll happen to you, too.

| Umm, yeah. This is gonna work. Imagine being some poor Arena ticket taking guy faced with a crowd of thousands of Metallica or OzzFest fans, who has to waste time not only comparing everyone''s credit card #'s with some kind of master list, but also check their photo ID before letting them into the venue. Someone at the back of the line gets impatient, starts shoving, ugliness ensues, people get hurt, yadda yadda yadda, they'll be back to old fashioned paper tickets before you know it. _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

| That sounds stupid as hell nice way to take something and make it needlessly complicated Ticketmaster. | |

| Isn't a "seat locator slip" just the same as a "ticket"? Way to be "green"! I'm really beginning to hate planet earth. |

| Think of the possible theft that can occur that way too. Like the info they get when they swipe the credit card. You may get charged twice... | |

| Well ok, lets think about this colossal goatfuck of a plan in the first place now that Ive read through it a second time (been drinkin). They want you to whip out your card again, and your id, which not only brings possible theft, but also makes the whole "concert experience" more irritating by making it complicated with extra tedious steps. To just get a seat locater slip which is essentially the ticket in the first place, not to mention make it take longer. Conviences charges better go by the wayside in lieu of this otherwise I doubt Ill be attending many major shows. Hell, I get antsy waiting for my real tickets. | |

| What if the person that owns the credit card and purchases the tickets isn't going to the concert? Say dad pulls out the ol' American Express and buy 4 tickets for little Suzy & her 3 friends to see the Jonas Brothers. Then he's off to play golf. Now little Suzy's best friend Brittney's mom has volunteered to load up the SUV and drop the kids off at the concert. Not only are the kids standing at the door without the original credit card and dad's not around to verify the purchase, but all 4 of them are only 15 and do not own any state-issue identification. Now they're all sitting outside the venue, crying their eyes out, feverishly texting mom to get a hold of dad, who by this point has played his 18 holes and is working on his 3rd scotch & soda at the strip club with the boys. Oh yea, this is a great idea. _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. | So, let's say Iron Maiden is playing a show and they are only selling paperless tickets. If you go on eBay, a bunch of people are selling tickets to the same show, but if they're not giving out a hard copy, how are you supposed to get into the venue? Are they really going to escort you in there? | |

You've bumped a thread from nearly a year ago. Hopefully this experiment of paperless ticketing has failed miserably. Do you know that Maiden is trying this system or are you just asking? _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. | From what I understand, paperless is up to the promoter, band and/or venue.
I'm not sure if Iron Maiden is doing it, but supposedly their show at DTE in Detroit for July is paperless but I still had to print my tickets out. So really, *I* had to use paper and they didn't. | |

Right. I've seen the basketball team I work with do the same thing. They send you a code, but you still have to print out a piece of paper to present at the turnstile. So the team saves money and can send out press releases crowing about their efforts to "go green" while the fans are using their own paper and ink. That's some progress. I'd be bummed that I wouldn't have a ticket stub to add to my collection. As for purchasing a code from ebay, well that's just asking to be scammed. On second thought, nevermind. I just remembered that I've purchased a bunch of seating ticket codes for various Maiden shows and I'm willing to sell them to anyone here. Paypal me $50 per seat and I'll e-mail you the codes. I promise. _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. Now what I'm with isn't it, and what's it seems weird and scary to me, and it'll happen to you, too.

| Tickets to the Maiden show at MSG are paperless, but only the pit tickets are paperless. The other seats, you get a hard copy ticket mailed to you. | |
