I am not familiar with the band Manilla Road if the author could let us know what the status of that thread is please.

If Deathcult wants to pass along the threads he was thinking about doing from before, I would love to do voivod.

I would also like to do a Ween discography at some point too.

Manilla Road is up to album four now. I'll get round to it tomorrow... pinky swear!

Due to the slower nature of threads being completed / started, I move that individuals author the Artist's threads approved by Mods / G-Mods and once started, must complete within an agreeable time period.

In doing this, they will be responsible for monitoring their own threads' progress. Time allotment I recommend being implemented to keep pace of the thread and prevent stagnation.

From what I can tell, the primary emphasis of these threads are
Primary: Educational information to a bands discography
Secondary: The opinions and view points of other educated metallers.
Tertiary: The enrichment of the board itself.

The authors of the threads will be responsible for keeping their threads fresh. They also shouldn't start more than one thread until they have completed one. I think the time allotment per album should be no less than 4 days and no greater than 2 weeks. (Adjustable to the artists discography size)

Yea, it would be nice to jump-start some of these discographies again. It's been it a bit of a slump lately.

Now that the holidays are over, I'll continue the MTH one, starting tonight. I keep trying to start on Slayer, but MTH takes alot of attention because of the size of the catalogue.

I would like for us to finish AC/DC, David Bowie, Def Leppard, and Manilla Road, before we fire up anymore threads on the Complete Discography page.

I know DC is working on the Mott The Hopple and Ben is doing Tygers of Pang Tang I would like to hold off on adding anymore til those 4 are completed, I hope everybody is cool with that.

Manilla Road will go slow, as DaveTheBoss is too busy to update regulary. I'm not sure what is up with Eyesore and his Def Lep thread. I suspect he's trying to write a book about them first....

Sounds good to me.

It's hard to find the right balance of artists for these types of threads.

It's nice when someone covers a "popular" artist and lots of folks chime in with opinions, stories and memories of certain albums. The down side is we run into the old "well, what more can I say about [album X] that hasn't already been said?".

However, when someone goes for the more "obscure" group, you run the risk of noone caring or participating. While it might seem informative in the long-run for someone not familiar with the artist in question, it might be a little disheartening to the author of the topic that noone is reading or contributing to their efforts.

I dont know how to rectify that. Just talking out of my ass-hat again. Carry on.

If you were talking out of your ass-hat, in that case you wouldnt know how to "rectum-fy" it.

Should we just consider these types of threads dead and forget about them? The four active threads have not been updated in awhile and maybe peps here have lost interest in discussing complete discographies, any thoughts on this?

I got nothin' to say about most of the bands in the active threads (i.e. Tygers of Pan Tang, Mott the Hoople, Manilla Road, etc.) cuz I don't own anything by/know much about'em. The Current Steele is a little too tr00 and arcane for me, ehehehehehe

That AC/DC thread needs a kick in the butt tho!
