| I've been hearing rumours that he was a big fan of REM. Why not they are a brilliant band one of my favourite non metal bands. | |

| Wouldn't surprise me if he was an R.E.M. fan. The boy had wide ranging tastes. _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

My sentiments exactly. I think most brilliant musicians have a broad taste in music.

| I love Opeth and Hall & Oates...it's all about variety. Speaking of Opeth, I saw in Classic Rock mag (I think) that Michael Akerfeldt has Shania Twain on his iPod. |

| I don't care how much I like a band, it gets boring listening to ONE kind of music all the time... |

No big deal at all. Just surprising he knew of them that's all I suspect REM weren't very well known in the early/mid 80s but I could be wrong

| I had an interview with Cliff in Cream's Thrash Metal that I bought in 89 or 90 and he said in the interview that he liked REM. | |

No big deal at all. Just surprising he knew of them that's all I suspect REM weren't very well known in the early/mid 80s but I could be wrong R.E.M. were very well known in the indie/college rock underground (see, metal wasn't the only thing that was underground back then...hahaha) virtually from their inception. They didn't blow up huge till the late 80s. Then of course, just like in metal, the "old" R.E.M. fans accused'em of "selling out." _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

What Madonna songs do you like manny? Quite a few, 'Ray of Light', 'Rain', 'Secret' and many others Ray Of Light and Music are essential albums IMO, I also have the Immaculate Collection. That's good for all those hits like "Papa Don't Preach" and so on. I think that she did pretty well with Confessions On The Dance Floor as well.

| Cliff was a very big fan of R.E.M. In some of his last interviews during the Puppets tour, he mentioned R.E.M. on a pretty frequent basis. Cliff has also mentioned that he liked Peter Gabriel & Roxy Music. Supposedly Cliff really wanted the band to cover Lynyrd Skynyrd. I wonder if this would've come to fruition on the "Garage Days Re-revisited" album had Cliff not died?
I also remember reading an interview with Kirk stating how he had gotten in a car wreck one day in the Bay area, and Cliff went to go pick him up from the hospital. Kirk had sustained whiplash (Really...) from the accident, and on the drive home Cliff was jamming to the Eagles. He was not only pounding on the dashboard to the music, but kept on slamming on the brakes, which ended up being kind of irritating to Kirk at the time (though was seen as being funny all these years later).

| Just imagining what the response would've been like if this had been posted on Blabbermouth:
"Doooo0000d! No f**kin WAY Cliff was an REM fan! He wasn't a POZER!" _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"
