The most unhinged wildest rock n' roll seen since Mudhoney led the march of fuzz outta Seattle in '88.......
That stuff right there is car crash between The Stooges and Jerry Lee Lewis!

You must have been going to church lately, because I'm thinking that God created that band just for you. Am I wrong? I'm going to spend my weekend thinking about if I could get God to design a band just for me what it would be like. I'm going to try and figure out which recent band comes closest to being my perfect band.

Hell i must of been doing something right.......but seriously this guy Jim Jones is in all my dream bands from the insurrectionist Motor City rock n' soul of Thee Hypnotics and the saucy Aerosmith/James Brown grooves of Black Moses.
Jim has always had a unique rock n' roll vision in all his bands, a lot of people may say they've heard this before but you tell me one band that has combined the boogie woogie piano playing and style of Jerry Lee Lewis and Little Richard with the sonic destruction of the MC5 and the Stooges.......throw in the Sonics, The Heartbreakers and the Birthday Party for more shots of wild rock n' roll sounds and attitude.
Btw my dream band would a band that hits somewhere between the Gun Club and the New York Dolls!.........the Beasts Of Bourbon have hit closest to that idea, hence they're my favourite band.

I'd like to hear studio versions of their music.
Live, I don't like the vocals but I fear I'd say the same thing about a lot of bands like this I like.

This is the beauty of this.........their s/t debut which came out late last year was recorded over 48 hours live to 4-track tape, no overdubs!
The first video is the studio track.......the second is live on French TV. Not that it makes any difference.
It's just so f*ckin' wild........defines what rock n' roll is to me.
If your not a fan of Jim's live vocals maybe you should check out Jim's previous bands.......

It's not a gimmick, the frontman's name is Jim (James) Jones.

Right, of course, but he looks and dresses like and acts like Jim Jones of Guyana!

Well then i'm a fully fledged member of this Jim Jones' cult.
Seriously though i'm not getting the connection or influence.
And i don't know why they would of been a good musical partner for LSD.

Because of the gimmicks that the lead singers employed. The singer in this Jim Jones band looks, dresses, and acts just like the late great Reverend himself. Get it? I think it rocks! If not for his image, I wouldn't have given this band a chance. However, in watching the video, I discovered he cang sing decently enough for his band's playing style, as well. There's nothing wrong with having A GOOD GIMMICK FOR ONE'S GROUP!

Fair enough, although a gimmick is mean't to be intended and i can safely say it's not in this case, if anything their gimmick is recording live as a band in the studio to 4 track tape with no overdubs. And i don't know why anyone in their right mind would think using a gimmick based on one of the most despicable persons of modern history is a good idea for their band. Particuarly a guy like Jim Jones who has been a part of some of the best bands of the last 20 years.
I do think the JJR are going for a kinda preachy rock n' roll gospel thing, a kinda "save people from the mediocrity of todays music". This Jim Jones is hugely influenced by black gospel and soul music so their is a crossover with the infamous Jim Jones who had rather black religious influences in the way he talked and performed. But again it's not the intention.
More Reverend Richard Penniman than Reverend Jim Jones.

Nice reference there, RP. So is this Jim Jones Revue his current project? I just picked up another Hypnotics cd by the way.

Yeah it's his current project after he ended Black Moses (Of which you have to get their album Royal Stink for it's groovy 70's Aerosmith shake appeal!), the debut album dropped late last year.
Btw what Hypnotics cd is it that you got?

Soul Glitter & Sin. I think I have all their studio albums now, just 3 of 'em, right? I don't have any ep's or live stuff.

RattPoison, quit suggesting such awesome, but expensive, imports. I got a wife and kids to take care of!! Both the Black Moses and JJR are out of my price range. Luckily I got those Hypnotic discs for a song.

Sold! How did you find that? When I looked on Amazon, I couldn't find it for under $16. Granted, that's not a fortune, but I usually put a $10 spending cap on all purchases, especially buying used.
