I wandered into the pit at Gigantour and the next day I could barely hear and I was sore all over.

after years of playing in bands

I can still hear pretty good actually....have a knack for finding the right tone to follow in the midst of chaos 🤘

on the other hand, my wife says I have this thing called "selective hearing"

I have some loss and occasional ringing but it could be worse. My left ear has never been the same after a King's X show that had the bass super loud and i wasn't wearing ear plugs.

I always wear ear plugs in band rehearsals but never to gigs. Really should start wearing them to gigs though as my hearing is definitely a tad... fuzzier at times and my family seems a bit suscepitable to hearing loss as well. Ack.

I'd had ringing in my ears before and it always went away, but this time it never did. I've taken care of my ears compulsively ever since (I carry earplugs everywhere, not just to shows) and luckily it hasn't gotten any worse. No better but no worse. Of course I still listen to "loud" music, but I don't listen to it at high volume any more.
I'm in the same boat. My ringing never goes away. It sucks but I've gotten used to it. Well as much as possible anyway. I use premium earplugs at work (train engineer) and at concerts to keep from damaging my hearing anymore but yet not muffle the sound. These are great www.etymotic.com/ephp/er20.aspx

Just a reminder, kids, that loud music is not the ONLY thing that can damage your hearing. I spent most of my afternoon cutting up some big ole sheets of plywood into smaller bite-sized pieces with an electric circular saw. My ears now feel like I just got out of a Motorhead concert.

I don't think I have any hearing loss. If any, it's a fairly small amount.

I got minor hearing damage at a Trivium concert in 2008. I can no longer listen to loud music or use headphones. I still go to concerts but I always use plugs now, so it hasn't gotten worse. I struggle to hear quiet conversations now.

I saw Trivium open for Iron Maiden a few summers back. They didn't damage my hearing but they did upset my stomach a bit Very Happy
