The Best Rainbow album?

What would you say the best Rainbow album was? Which singer do you like the best?

Long Live Rock N Roll - reason: Gates Of Babylon, LA Connection, Kill The King, title track

*Rainbow Rising places a close second

Long Live Rock n Roll is my favorite, but any of the 1st 3 with Dio are fine by me. After that, I lost interest.

I only have THE VERY BEST OF RAINBOW compilation... yea, I know, I suck.

Is that the double disc set? I have that one and I never listen to disc 2. In fact, I don't know why I still keep it around. I have all the Dio discs now, so maybe I need to jettison that thick double disc jewel-case taking up valuable real estate.

Nope, it's a single disc ... got it when I was a member of the "Lala" CD trading site a while back... this is it. Covers all eras of the band, with Dio, JLT and Graham Bonnet. Nice shortcut or intro to the band's stuff.

That comp that Freddy is an excellent intro to the band and if you are not a die hard Blackmore fan like myself, it might be all you need.

I would have to pick Long Live Rock and Roll as my fave but I like them all. Funny I had just finished listening to The Best Of Rainbow and Down to Earth right as I opened this thread.

I too liked Bent Out Of Shape. It's all good to me.

That is an excellent album and features Joe Lynn Turner's best vocal ever on 'Can't Let you Go"

I honestly could live with just "Straight Between" and "Bent". But being a Blackmore fanboy as I am, I own all the others, and they are all good. Even "Down To Earth".

I'd have to agree with you

So many say the JLT stuff is too poppy, not focused, blah blah blah. I just happen to disagree but as many say, it's all good.

I think the material that Blackmore did with JLT is excellent I just prefer the Dio years.

I find Bent Out Of Shape to be boring. I must find time to revisit it soon again to add it to my website.

Rainbow - Rising

The debut. Or 'Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow' as some call it. Has a couple odd not-so-awesome tracks, but the highlights are better than on any other 70's album, by any band. I love Temple of the King, for instance. All three 70's albums are excellent though.

Dio is obviously my favourite vocalist.
