Maybe a picture of Lars. I always thought Dave and James were cool with each other.

| The best part of that entire Some Kind Of Monster documentary are the scenes with Dave & Lars talking. It's a cool moment, seeing Dave let his guard down. |

| Yeah, my thoughts as well. Dave, while still being a complete ass in general, has matured as a person a little bit - At least enough to not write a comment like that. | |

It was the best moment, but Dave supposedly attributes those feelings to the events of 9/11. They filmed this just days after the attacks. Dave and Megadeth had been up in Canada touring if memory serves me correctly, and were travelling by plane. Of course all planes were grounded, so Dave decided to make the trek to San Fran by car, and he got together with Lars. I guess Dave doesn't want to own up to what transpired that day while on camera. I guess his main beef was that they didn't show Lars getting emotional, which Dave claims, Lars had cried at certain moments. Dave also stated that after he watched the scene; he asked those behind the film to not include that scene in the documentary. The rest is history... I think it humanizes Dave in a big way, and if I ever ran into the guy, I would tell him that it was one of his greatest moments that fans have been privy to. I think the heavy metal community saw this guy in one light for so long, so this was refreshing to see Dave let his guard down. Dave can claim it was brought on by what was transpiring with 9/11 and all that, but when it was all said and done, those emotions were real. The things he stated to Lars might not have come out had the events of 9/11 not occurred, but it doesn't make those feelings any less real. I'm sure there were countless feelings expressed by those of us during those times to loved ones that might not have normally come out. I remember crying that evening while being glued to the T.V that night watching everything unfolding. I remember also getting up and going over to my brother (who was I living with at the time) and giving him a big hug and a kiss on the cheek, and telling him that I loved him. Would I normally do that? Probably not, but events like this bring out feelings that we might not normally express to others. Here's another little tidbit regarding the Mustaine scene. In the commentary portion of the documentary, James calls the Mustaine stuff awesome. James goes onto say how he is sympathetic to what Dave has gone through over the years. Unfortunately those sympathetic overtures that James expressed are dulled by the quip that is the ending moment with Dave & Lars. Dave's last comments heard on film are "By no means is it done, because somebody else very important is not here". Obviously Dave is referring to James (who was out of rehab, but isolated in his own little world at the time), who needed to hear those words from Dave face to face. James comment regarding that other important person: "Ron McGovney" (and the laughing insues). Is it funny? I guess a little bit, but it speaks to the point that nothing has really been laid to rest regarding Dave's departure over 25 years ago.
