| I heard Billy Bob Thornton will be the new Freddy in the remake of "A Nightmare on Elm street". While Michael Bay's Platinum Dunes production company has been swirling around the A Nightmare on Elm Street remake, the original Freddy Krueger himself revealed an interesting item. JoBlo is reporting that Robert Englund, while on the late-night radio program Loveline to promote his latest film, Jack Brooks: Monster Slayer, offered the latest gossip he heard about who would step into the role: Billy Bob Thornton. Of course, this hasn't been confirmed and it can be considered just a rumor at this point, but Englund did state that he wasn't against being replaced for the redo and that he hopes the movie's bigger budget will allow for better dream effects that the original couldn't afford. | |

| I'm putting this information in my "stop with the sh*tty remakes" file for later reference. _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. Now what I'm with isn't it, and what's it seems weird and scary to me, and it'll happen to you, too.

| Note to self: start writing screenplays...it appears nobody in Hollywood can have an original thought anymore. |

When people stop going to see the sh!tty remakes, another trend I am sick of his relaunching or rebooting movie series, that started with Star Wars: The Phantom Screenplay and would include: Batman Begins 007: Casino Royale Halloween and even Star Trek and I am sure I have left out many others, some of these films have been good but come on, are going to relaunch every movie franchise?

I actually don't have a problem with the Batman franchise, because they took it in a direction that its never been taken. I appreciated the back story, since we really never had one outside that of the comics. In terms of the latest installment, I thought it was great. I thought that Heath Leger breathed a ton of new life into the Joker. He made Nicholson's version look like a total whimp. I have a new respect for that character. I still have a warm place in my heart for the way Caesar Romero portrayed that character in the T.V show. The other movies you mentioned, I totally agree with.

| I think that the series should retire alongside Robert Englund. So far every horror remake has sucked. Too bad Englund ended his franchise with that piece of crap "Freddy vs Jason". | |

| Re-makes, re-starts, re-diculous. Don't care too much with the slasher movies because I don't often watch them. However, I can't go for the re-start of Pink Panther and the upcomming Police Academy. Re-doing classic comedies is total bullshite IMO. What next? Revenge Of The Nerds? Ghostbusters? Naked Gun? Airplane? | |

You got it dude. Google "Ghostbusters Remake". Apparently it's in the works. _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. Now what I'm with isn't it, and what's it seems weird and scary to me, and it'll happen to you, too.

| Hollywood is bankrupt for ideas, they should leave the classics alone. | |

They were actually planning a Revenge of the Nerds remake at one point, but I guess it got canned.

| I like remakes and some are better then the originals imo. That said, when will we ever see a great new horror series? No one seems to write like they used to. | |

| There is endless potential in the writing of H.P. Lovecraft that could be adapted to film...however 98% of the attempts so far have been terrible. So many of his stories are linked together by a common mythology that it's a natural for a series of films. |
