Heatwave.....

its 63 here today! Tommorrow it will probably be 28 I love weather in Maryland.

It's horrific, friends and families of mine have lost homes but at least no one i know has lost their life. The death toll is 104 at the moment and rising and something like a 1000 homes have been destroyed. At one point there was a fire blazing only 5 miles or so from where i live which was worrying.

It's beyond belief, it's hard to comprehend towns/communities only 10 miles away from where i live are no more. Totally flattened.......but that's what happens when you have a 116 F day, 60 mile/hr winds and 13 years of drought.

300+ are dead including 3 of my sister's friends. My cousin and her family lost their home that they only moved into 3 months ago. And another 1000 homes were lost.

Her husband tried to save the house but in the end had to bail.....at one point he was sheltering in a dam with his two goats. But you'll be glad to hear Sahb that the goats are fine......although their horses are another matter, i think he cut the fence to let them escape or something like that.

Man, I was thinking about you when i was watching the new this morning! The death count was then under 200 still, and now're telling me 300+ That is some scary sh*t. I hope you make it without any damage, rp!

It looks like the California fires. I feel for all those caught in this.

Usually staying at home to protect the house particuarly from embers works.......but like i said freak conditions of 116 F (47 C), 60 mile/hr (100km/hr) winds and 13 years of drought couldn't prepare anyone for this. The fire moved so quick that people didn't even get a warning let alone chance to leave, one minute it's not there and the next it's over the hill raining down on you......tragically alot of people were caught in cars trying to escape.

I am in the middle when it comes to weather. I love spring and wish it would last all year but it just doesn't last long here in the Metroplex these days. Nothing like taking a walk on a warm day with a light breeze blowing.
