Can death vocals be really combined with power metal music??

No, there's nothing wrong with it. I was just confused because you didn't actually state in any capacity that you were warming to the music. You just looked like you were contradicting yourself.

I loath Death Metal vocals, and I am not into Power Metal so to me they both together equal the worst of two evils.

With that, I will respectfully say that yes both genres of metal do have some very talented bands out there that do it right. I say this in hopes that I did not irritate anyone from my first sentence. I am just not into that type of music much.

For me I have to be in the mood for that kind of style (along with black and regular death) and I get tired of it easily.

I mostly like clean vocals and a while back I would have said no, but I have this Century Media comp and there is a band on there ,I think they are called Jezabel,the track listing is kind of messed up,but the guy sings in a kind of toned down black metal way and another guy is doing kind of a Geoff Tate vocal and ....it works.

Clean vocals are always the best. But i'm also starting to develop a taste in growls

Yeah,I look at it like black and death vocals are kind of like a spice,add just enough and it is cool but too much and not so ,but before anyone blasts me,just an opinion from an older guy who has listened to all kinds of metal.As I get older though,I really prefer the classic and epic doom,power metal,and heavy prog /melodic.I still like the vocal blend bands like Sirenia,Trail of Tears,Orphanage and several others of that style, but overall like clean vocals in the majority of bands I listen to......
