How to convert people into metal

Some of my friends are more and more interested in heavy metal...Especially those who always thought "wind of change" and "rock you like like a hurricane" were heavy music Laughing

.

In order to convert them, i've been using "classic tools":

- Metallica- Master of puppets and ride the lightning.

- Judas priest- Sad wings of destiny and painkiller.

- Megadeth - Rust in peace.

- AC/DC : Back in black.

- Toxik: world circus.

- Exciter : long live the loud.

- Testament: Low.

- Dio: holy diver.

- Iron Maiden: powerslave.

I think i'm making a good choice since they seem to be getting more and more into metal. Any other musical suggestions??

The first six Van Halen albums.

Am I biased? Of course, but those albums really bridge fun party music with technical solos and some pretty heavy riffs.

For my son, when he began to get into what passes for Metal these days, I just slowly let him hear ICED EARTH (who is now his favorite band), IRON MAIDEN, METALLICA & QUEENSRYCHE...not all at once, but gradually...he's into a lot of other bands now, in addition to "his" Metal...some of his favorite bands are:

H.I.M.
SLIPKNOT
QUEENSRYCHE

PARKWAY DRIVE
INTO ETERNITY
BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE
DIO

Again, I agree with mc666 (this is starting to become a disturbing trend). You don't 'convert' people to musical genres. Sure, you can help them find their way a bit, but if they're not interested, don't force it. Noone wants their subjectivity imposed upon that much.

I agree more or less as well. I've LONG since stopped trying to convert. If someone shows an interest I'll make them a burn of stuff they might have never heard otherwise. By the time people reach adulthood they've pretty much settled on what they are, for the most part.

I'm not trying to convert people...I don't give a crap whether they will like metal or not. It's just that in most of the cases, they're too curious and seek orientation. This is where i try to provide them with the good stuff...

I tried to "enlighten" a co-worker to thrash metal after he asked me for some recommendations, but he didn't seem to dig what I gave him so I don't bother anymore. Let him keep thinking Bullet for my Valetine is the be-all-end-all of metal. Pfft... kids.

Thats the philosphy I take with music as well as religion and politics. If they want help or are open to help than I will do my best, if not then I leave well enough alone. To do anything else just causes hostility and contempt.
