| I never had a car last more then a year. Most miles I ever put on a car was 50k. I have been through 6 vehicles and 4 of the 6 engines blew. My last one a 2002 Chrysler Sebring Convertible blew at 78k. | |

| My current vehicle is a 2003 Kia Spectra and it's around 48K or so. I plan on keeping it until it costs more to maintain it rather than just get a new car. | |

| Miles on cars - 82 Plymouth Champ (mitshubishi captive import/dodge colt clone) College car- 67,000 (totaled it) 84 Ford Escort - 90,000 - college car - gave it to my brother, he blew the engine at 105,000. I got in 1988 for $2k, and put more than $2k in repairs in that POS - after this, I swore I would NEVER buy another american car!!!! They are POS!!!! 93 Toyota Pick Up - 160,000 - gave it to my brother. NEVER had any problems with the truck! He didn't kill this one He just sold it at 190k and it's still going 97 Toyota Corolla - 170,000 - we still have this one, my wife's first new car. NEVER had any problems with this one! I drove it after we got the next car, which is: 2004 Toyota Sienna - it just hit 100,00! Never had any problems with it!!!! 2008 Toyota Highlander - 6000 - I love my new car!!!! I haven't got a new car of my own since the truck in 93!!!! I will most likely keep buying Toyotas, they last forever. The moral of this story is at ford (fix or repair daily, found on road dead, that was my escort), quality is NOT job one | |

You live out in the boondocks so i can image how much driving is required to get around.

I'm in the same situation - I live in the boonies and it's all highway driving to work. I also use synthetic oil (Castrol syntek in the sienna, mobile 1 in the highlander)

| I put 96,000 miles on an 86 Pontiac Sunbird until I sold it in 93.
I currently only have about 72K on my 2000 Mitsubishi Eclipse so I should be good for several more years. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| My first car was a 1980 Honda Civic station wagon, it had 280,000 miles on it when I sold it.
My current vehicle is a 1998 Oldsmobile Cutlass and it has 198,000 miles on it...and it's ready to fall apart like the scene in the Blues Brothers. |

| I've got a 93 Saturn beater I bought from a friend of mine a few years ago, It had 400,000 miles & I gave him 300 bucks for it. I've known him since he bought it new, has the original motor & tranny in it. On the way home tonight it will turn 500,000 miles, I'm gonna drive it until it grenades. Beaters are great, keeps miles & wear off the good stuff. When I woked for Saturn I did see a 92 model with 1.1 million miles on it. Older Saturns are almost indestructable. | |

The moral of this story is at ford (fix or repair daily, found on road dead, that was my escort), quality is NOT job one The Ford escort is actually an import car with the Ford name on it. Not sure which company. That same time frame, the smaller cars and trucks by Dodge were actually Mitsubishi Motors.
