You're not missing much. Brosnan is my pick for favourite Bond, combining the deadliness of Connery and the charm of Moore.... but Die Another Day sucked! Best James Bond? - Page 2 78889 It's the only Bond film I actively dislike. I can find redeeming features in almost all of them, but there's a reason it's the only Bond film missing from my DVD collection!

But Connery would be a very close second. I don't think Bond has actually ever been miscast, however the circumstances surrounding the movie (production and world events), scripting and direction have certainly led to some lesser entries.

Haha, well, I did finally watch "Die Another Day" a while back and though I enjoyed it (mainly cuz Halle Berry was smokin' hot...hooo-eeeee!), it was my least favorite out of Brosnan's Bond flicks. ("Goldeneye" being my fave.)

I personally love the two movies Daniel Craig did in the Bond series, very gritty and Bond is less sympathic character but also more human, highly recommend them.

Pierce Brosnan. Don't know why, probably because i've seen his films the most. I own all the Ultimate Editions of the Bond films, saw the boxset (original 20 films) really cheap on eBay and couldn't resist. The ones Daniel Craig did are okay I suppose.

Bond question. What's the consensus on Daniel Craig as Bond? I was in the supermarket earlier today and saw the 2-disc special edition DVD of his first Bond flick, "Casino Royale," in the bargain bin for $5.99. Didn't have the $$ to pick it up at the time but I'm considering going back to snag it. I haven't seen either of his turns as JB yet and I'm wondering if it's worth seeing. The fact that it is in the bargain bin doesn't exactly translate to a vote of confidence IMO.

VERY good movies and worth the pick up!!!!!! Casino Royale is better than his second turn

Shared first place for Dalton and Connery. Dalton kicked ass, and Connery IS 007.

Timothy Dalton's two Bond flicks are totally overlooked IMO. I liked'em both but prefer "Licence to Kill." His first one, "The Living Daylights," was written with Roger Moore in mind so some of the light-hearted stuff in it doesn't really mesh with Dalton's more straight-laced portrayal.

"Licence to Kill" kicks a ton of ass though. That one gets no love (it was one of the least successful Bond flicks at the box office) but I thought it was great.

Resurrecting this thread makes me think I really should start picking up more of the Bond series on DVD. I love the Bond films, I've seen most of'em multiple times over the years (except for the two w/Daniel Craig -- as I mentioned earlier, I still haven't gotten around to seeing either of those) but the only ones I own are the four Pierce Brosnan films.

Licence to Kill is a great movie! A very driven revenge-filled Bond flick with a pretty excellent portrayal by Dalton. The climactic chase (with 18-wheelers no less) is great.

And definitely get that Casion Royale. It's an excellent re-boot to the series. I have yet to see Quantum of Solace. It's shown alot on Showtime but I don't have it.

I was in the supermarket again tonite and almost picked it up... till I took a closer look and realized the DVD was full screen, not widescreen. No wonder it was so cheap. I didn't even know they made "fullscreen" DVDs anymore.

I think the Connery movies are boring but I respect the path he laid for everyone else. Moore, Brosnan and Craig all did great jobs, IMO.

Craig did a great job, the most physically fit and believable Bond of all time, for sure. The fact that Casino Royale is in the bargain bin means nothing, there's a higher turnover rate for discounted DVDs these days. It was a tad bit slow but still very good. The sequel was disappointing though. It was the first direct sequel to a Bond film and I think that was their mistake.

I really like the smugness that Moore and Brosnan brought to the role but they always seemed so fragile to me. Laughing
