Spec how are those YES albums 'Drama' and 'Talk' never owned them or I don't believe I ever even heard any songs of those albums, just curious what your opinion is of these albums. manny, Here's my thoughts on "Talk": Yes' "Talk" album is the last full album produced by the Trevor Rabin version of the band. I for one loved the first album produced by this line-up, 1983's smash "90125", so listening to the pop stylings of "Talk" should have been a piece of cake. Well it wasn't. This album is too "happy" (for lack of a better word). I kept thinking about that Paul Simon song "Call Me Al" while listening to this one. This sucker is slickly polished to point of sounding unnatural and almost sounds like a Trevor Rabin solo project. The rest of the guys sound like they could have easily been studio musicians, or even Rabin himself. I hear nothing from Chris Squire that stands out. No bass runs, no low end.....no bass at all for that matter. Until...."Endless Dream". "Endless Dream" is the only track that sounds progressive at all. In fact, its one of the better songs they have done since their 70's heyday. Just a fantastic song!
So, I recommend this album to you. Why? "Endless Dream". Just skip the rest and get to that tune. You will thank me. The rest? Meh...

I recognize it from one of those VH-1 shows, the "101 Greatest Rock Disasters" or something like that. Guys in fake horse outfits swordfighting on ice skates with a epic prog-rock soundtrack has a very limited appeal. _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. Man, Valient Thorr is not an old band from the 80s? Haha. I thought that was an obscure thrash reissue from the 80s. Sure does look like it. Crazy. |
