This was like the heavy metal Live Aid. A bunch of metal bands recorded a benefit song.
Wasn't Dio the main guy involved?

How so?
I like the song. Not sure about the politics involved, but the song is quite enjoyable. Sounds like a classic DIO song with an awesome extended guitar solo.

More songs with individual players getting more space to do their thing, instead of just a snippet tossed in with all the others.

Good tune! I used to have it on my Limewire account a few years ago. Interesting to hear the differences in vocalists from Dio to Dokken to Tate to Shortino to Meniketti and so on. Didn't someone on this board mention they had asked for this cd for Christmas? Peace.

I love the song, I agree it sounds like a Dio song with the solo extended but not surprising since it was written by 3 Dio members.
I still have this album on vinyl, a forgotten classic.

Great song! Its funny, Dokken is easily my favorite 80's band. And watching that video, its Lynch's solos that stick out above the pack for me. They're all pretty good, but Lynch has a style that is unmistakable.
Its also good to see Geoff Tate singing metal.

It's a great song that come to think of it does sound like a Dio song. I like that so many vocalists took a line or two in the song. it was really cool to hear the different vocal styles right up against each other and it worked very well. The guitar solo was simply amazing. How all those styles were able to fit and mesh so well and still sound good, and not just some ego fest. It was cool that so many artists were able to take their signature and melt it into a song and still manage to keep their sound and also make a positive contribution to the song.

Love the song, also think the whole thing was a great idea. Seeing the video again brings back some good memories, those were the days . If some of you young ones think this vid is lame and cheesy, check out this one:

I still have my Hear-N-Aid "Stars" 45 RPM single. Always liked the song. The B-side of the single was a bunch of interviews with musicians who'd participated in the project, if memory serves.
