I'm sitting here listening to the new ENSLAVED album Vertebrae...and it's awesome! Shocked

I've never paid them a lot of attention, but always knew who they were. This album is an amazing blend of Black/Viking/Prog Metal...clean vocals, Black vocals, mid-tempo rhythms, sweeping keys...incredible. I'll be digging into this band, going backwards from this album.

I recently discovered these guys due to an article in Guitar World so I went and checked them out, I was very impressed with the guitar playing, excellent and very brutal

Enslaved are one of my favorite bands. Shawn and manny, if you like Vertebrae, check out ISA, Below The Lights, Monumension and Ruun. The stuff that is earlier than that is very black metal and probably won't appeal to you.

i have only heard of few songs from them (thanks to You Tube) but I believe the tracks I heard where from different CDS, not any off their newest album.

Well Enslaved were a top tier black metal band in the early and mid 90's. "Frost" is arguably one of the best albums of that time.

Below The Lights is one of my all time favorite albums.

I could never get into these guys. The vocals were always the turning point. The new album's prog elements rule though.

The new cd is awesome! You can hear the Pink Floyd influence on the new album. All the discs that Spec recommended are well worth getting.

With the samples of the latest one I heard, I would love to get that one eventually. I just picked up Blodhemn without any idea of who or what these guys were with the intent of listening to samples of this band and deciding to keep it or not. This seems like some black metal I could get into so I think I will keep this one.

It's got Black Metal in it at it's core...but there's a lot more too it than that, IMO...the new one, anyway...I need to dig back inot thier early stuff...

BUMP! Just to state that like every album they have released since 2001's "Monumension", "Axioma Ethica Odini" is my album of the year it was released. Nothing comes close in comparison with this new record this year.....Another mind blowing melding of styles from the best band out of Norway, and (IMO) the best active band on the scene.

Haven't listened to these guys in donkey's years. I used to like their debut album a whole lot though.

I like the two abums I have (Blodhemn and Vertebrae), good progressivel black (the latter)/Viking metal (the former). However, I don't listen to them often enough to justify getting the new one at this time. While I origionally wanted to get all the 2010 releases I could get my hands on, there have been so much this year, I have to make cuts somewhere.

All of you must get the new one!! IMO it is their best since Below the Lights and it is probably my favorite release of 2010. The other albums in between (Isa, Ruun, Vertabrae) are good, too!
