| For the record, I think Bon Jovi and Country are a natural mix; I don't get the musical connection, but I can say that--growing up in rural Missouri--the same rednecks who liked country music also loved stuff like Bon Jovi. He has a very "rural" appeal, for some reason. I find that Nickelback has a similar effect today.

As am I. I kind of laugh, though, when people say such and such sounds country, when most of you flat out admit you don't listen to it. This Left Feels Right was NOT country sounding for the most part. Trust me...I ran a country radio station for 8 years and not a single track on there would have made it on country radio or been accepted by most country fans. Now, was Who Says You Can't Go Home country? Sure, the remade version with Sugarland was VERY country influenced...but that was the point. I don't know...I guess I don't have a problem with it if that is what they want to do. I'll probably still buy it. And no, I am not a country fan per se, at least not modern country (love Haggard, Cash, Waylon & Willie, and Hank, Jr.), but I know a good deal about the country scene. I'm not talking out of my area of knowledge here. Arttie | |

| I said This Left Feels Right was country-based. I don't see how that can even be argued. Surely not a country album, but the country influence is all over that album. |

| Why? Because it was acoustic? What exactly felt country about it? No fiddle...no steel guitar... If anything, it felt VERY adult contemporary to me, but not country. Not arguing...you are entitled to your opinion, I'm just saying as someone who was immersed in the country sound for several years (yep..a metalhead ran a country station...), I can tell you that to THESE ears, this did not sound country.

Arttie No, I don't think you're arguing. What I said was a figure of speech. I see your point about the country aspect, how about we agree that it's got a very southern influence? =) |

| I would agree 100% with the southern influence.
For the record, what Jon says about the new album is that it is influenced by Nashville only in his approach to the songwriting part of it...not in its sound. He says that he thinks rock music has become boring, flat, and stale, and that Nashville has some of the best songwriting ideas out there right now. He says he used to borrow from the Nashville sound back in the 80's and kind of got away from it...just returning to it now.

| If rock music is boring, flat, and stale—why not write a great rock record? |

| I think that his is intention... He's just saying he prefers the writing style that Nashville uses...not the country music sound, per se.
We'll just have to see what happens, I guess.
