Anyone get the new SAXON CD yet? What are your thoughts on it?

So far, I'm really diggin' it. Saxon has put out solid albums ever since giving up trying to be the next Def Leppard and since Unleash the Beast IMO.

Yes, i have their new album. I just bought the normal edition because they didnt had the other in the shop. I like the songs but they realy tried to make a UNLEASH THE BEAST II only the problem is that the first part was better. Still, i like this album a lot (better then METALHEAD or LIONHEART) but not better then KILLING GROUND, DOGS OF WAR or UNLEASH THE BEAST in my opinion.

it's not as heavy as Metalhead, but it has a few decent songs on it. it's worth buying, for those who haven't yet.

Ok, bag on me all you want, but this is the first time I've really tried Saxon (I mean really gave them a listen). I just got The Inner Sanctum, and I must say my socks have been effectively ROCKED!

What other albums of theirs are absolutely essential? I'm gonna add a bunch of them to my LaLa wantlist.

Uhhhh, see my site, but if you like Sanctum, be sure and get METALHEAD,
UNLEASH THE BEAST, and KILLING GROUND. Personally, I love their 80's
stuff best, but that's just the old guy in me coming out.

I just got it and cranked it. I agree with Shannon. Best
album my fav band has done in years. Most opinions seem to make
comparisions with Metalhead and Killing Ground, but I definately hear a
very "Solid Ball of Rock" vibe there.

Anyways, maybe we can get the chaps over here this time, without the usual cancelations, house fires, etc.

Pick up "Heavy Metal Thunder" for a good compilation of their "classic" material. In 2002, the band re-recorded all their hits from the early years. This will give you a pretty decent idea of their older music. It's more or less a Greatest Hits collection.
