did the guys in metallica take drugs

Ive been hearing rumours that Kirk Hammet used to do cocaine and Lars had a drug problem and I heard Noel Gallager from Oasis helped him kick the habbit back in 1995. Obviously Cliff Burton was into pot but I dont think Hetfield and Newsted had anything to do with drugs but I could be wrong

I'm sure they all dabbled at some point, at the very least. Never heard that Noel Gallagher bit though.

I am not sure but when I listened to St. Anger I wish I had been on drugs, it may have sounded better.

alcohol is a drug, just a legal one. I'm sure you know Jame's history with that.

Well, Alcohol aside, Hetfield never took any form of illegal drug - It has always terrified him.

Lars, as far as I know, was never heavily into drugs

Kirk did do drugs, but it was mostly marijuana

Why should alcohol be aside? Over 100,000 people die because of alcohol every year, yet everybody sweeps it under the rug because the government says it's okay.

pot should be legal, alchohol should be illegal.

By the way, St. Anger doesn't sound any better when you're stoned...all you can focus on is the snare drum.

who cares if they did or do drugs (alcohol, pot, coke, or whatever)? as long as they aren't out here stealing car stereos to pay for their habit, it's none of my business.

Although nothing in this world can even make St. Anger sound better than "torturously awful".

According to Classic Rock Magazine, Lars and Kirk developed a "robust" taste for Cocaine.

Not sure about the kirk thing but thats true about lars with Noel Gallager. As funny as it sounds I think Oasis is lars' favorite band

Lars and Kirk have been very upfront about their usage of drugs in the past. Cocaine especially!

There's a semi-famous clip of Cliff Burton smoking weed with Jim Martin of Faith No More (at least I think that's him) on the Cliff'em All video/DVD
