| Being a reformed stoner kid from the mid 70's... This band was a staple in the musical endeavors of young ears hungry for great tunes. They also were formula in motivating all us youngsters to pick up and play our perspective instruments more seriously. I still remember all the gals being infatuated with Peter Frampton, some before Frampton Comes Alive hit the scene. Then of course, I offer up Humble Pie-Rockin The Fillmore and state, check out Peter on this. | |

| Humble Pie was a great band and the first one tagged with the term heavy metal for the album " Town and the Country" when it was reviewed in Rolling Stone magazine. The live album "Rockin' the Fillmore" is excellent and of course it includes the 9 minute epic "I Don't Need No Doctor" , a real bluesy loud live beast with Steve Marriott leading. Not really a metal band they had a more blues almost R & B flavoring to some of their tunes such as " Black Coffee" and "30 Days in the Hole" , even covered Ray Charles's Hallelujah (I Love Her So). Steve Marriott passed away in the early 90's, Jerry Shriley and Greg Ridley would go on to be in first incarnation of Fastway. | |

| First time I heard 30 Days In The Hole was from Kick Axe in the Soundtrack to Up The Creek _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| Zombie Thread...back from the dead... urrrrrgh.... On a whim, I picked up Humble Pie's "Rock On" (1971) CD at the thrift store today... I am fairly sure that the only H.P. songs I knew before hand were "30 Days in the Hole" and "I Don't Need No Doctor" - neither of which were on this album I snagged it out of curiosity cuz I remember both Ace Frehley and Paul Stanley giving that band props in their autobiographies, talking about what an influence they were on the early KISS stuff... I've only given the CD one spin but I can sorta hear it. _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

Fat Freddy. That was one of my favorite bands while I was in High School and I was probably the only kid who was listening to The Pie, Frampton and Metallica at the same time! | |

| I have a "Classics" hits comp that I'll break out every now and then. And when ever I do, I think, "Hmmmm, maybe I need to get some more Humble Pie in my collection".
Then the moment passes and I put the album back on the shelf. If I were to stick my proverbial shaft into their warm pie, where's a good place to start? _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. Now what I'm with isn't it, and what's it seems weird and scary to me, and it'll happen to you, too.
