| Anyone else pick this up? I think it's their best release (their others always seemed to have too much filler).
I gave some more thoughts on the matter at my blog: http://metalexcess.wordpress.com/2008/09/18/buckcherry-black-butterfly/

| Why is the quick reply block so tiny?
Anyway, I may pick this up at Best Buy today or tomorrow. Best Buy got bonus tracks, I think. |

| I really liked their s/t debut....and the next one wasn't too bad, but it seems that as they go on they seem to be trying to be as over the top crude and coarse as they can be, and that annoys me...especially when the band obviously has their sleaze chops in check.. _________________ "Oh man, I need TV? I got mine from Best Buy the first day of release and it didn't have those two bonus demos. UNLESS... they're somewhere on the PC portion, but packaging didn't mention'em. | |

My thoughts exactly I'm kinda the same way. I liked their debut ok, then their 2nd didn't do much for me. The few songs I've heard since then haven't made my nipples twitter. It's unlikely that I'll be getting their new one.

| I have heard it and if you like what they have done already then you will like the new one. It's not bad but, "too drunk" seems like they are just trying to out do Crazy Bit*h just for the sake of it. It Seems that is all these guys are trying to these days. They really seem to appeal to sexually frustrated soccor moms who think because they listen to this stuff they are cool and hip. Then again I have this and their last one, does this mean I am a sexually frustrated soccor mom trying to be hip and cool? D'OOOH!!!! | |

I didn't know they weren't hard rock. We really need some clarification or redefining of what bands are supposed to go into the HoM & RnR sections because I'm pretty sure Buckcherry IS hard rock and NOT "non-metal/hard rock" as RnR states. :kickbutt:

This is what I thought, though it's actually the reason that I never checked them out. I have their CDs now, but I think you sent me one, and I got the other through lala or something. Either way, the big single from the last album was just dumb. And the first single for this new album was equally as stupid, and musically it sounded like something Finger Eleven would do. Despite this, it seems like the singles are the songs that focus on the nonsense. I can dig a band writing something geared toward being a single. The Offspring and Eminem have always put out goofy songs as singles, but the rest of their albums are full of serious material. But you can be goofy and funny, and even crude, without being grating and annoying. |

| Buckcherry is hard rock, therefore belongs in the Heavy Metal and Hard Rock forum aka HOM.
If this was put in this part of the forum to start with it's okay there's always a bit of crossover...but when over zealous mod's start moving threads like this, then it becomes a bit silly.
The first record is pretty great....particuarly when taking into consideration what time it came out. I mean it was no 'Total 13' but a bit of a spark in the late 90's.
Can't say i'm excited by anything else by them, just sorta....well you know.
Great to see that journeyman bassist Jimmy Ashurst of Stiv Bators, Broken Homes and Izzy Stradlin (non)fame getting a good paying gig playing with them.

| Started listening to this this morning. So far, I really like it but I agree the lyrics to Too Drunk...seem forced and contrived. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| I saw them play this year at Cruefest and I thought they put on a pretty good show but they decided to turn Crazy Bit*h into a 10:00 minute long song and also threw in Too Drunk so their whole set was laced with F bombs. I am not one that is offended by profanity but it came across as cussing just to fill in space. I thought they could have found a better way to communicate but the crowd was eating it up so maybe that is the level most of the concert goers were on when they played here. I do like this band but I also think they should work on expanding their vocabulary a bit. All that aside I guess it is Rock n Roll and maybe thats what it's all about. | |

I always took RnR as being for "non-metal" and "non-hard rock" even though "non-metal/hard rock-related" does make it seem cloudy like hard rock belongs there as well. HoM clearly mentions hard rock.

| I think the "non-metal/hard rock" phrase is meant to carry the "non" to both sides of the slash. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| I think the description of this forum is just worded badly. I think it really means "non-metal/non-hard rock" because the HoM description specifically mentions hard rock going there. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

I think hard rock can be discussed in both forums, like i said there's a bit of crossover. I think it's wrong for individual mods to take it upon themselves to move a thread like this that is clearly about a hard rock band away from where it was originally posted...i think it's not fair on the original author of the thread.

I think that's a little dramatic. I still feel that this forum should be about hard rock and other styles. HoM should be about metal. Crossover is one thing, but most bands are clearly rooted in rock or metal. Some of the older crew might still view Aerosmith as metal, but I think they could safely be placed in a rock forum. This forum was originally set up for rock bands, but then for whatever reason it was changed and reworded. This forum should be for rock, the other for metal (hence their names). And this one should be moved directly beneath HoM. That should help keep people from posting in the wrong forum. |
