Take Vinnie Paul, the guy from Mudvayne, Bob Zilla and some other obscure people, put em' together and you'd get Hellyeah, southern-metal at its finest. Praise? Hate speeches?

A friend of mine has it. I have borrowed it and heard a couple of tracks, it's o.k., nothing really stuck with me. Peace.

To me, the Hellyeah is like the prog supergroup Asia. Looks good on paper, but falls short on the overall product.

Finest? Hardly. This is an okay album at best. Something you don't change if it comes on, but hardly something you want to listen to very often.

I like it, have to say it ran it's course pretty fast for me though. Alcohaulinass is one of those tunes I would rather not hear again. totally burned out on that one.

My exact feelings, all are great musicians but no chemistry. I am glad to see Vinnie Paul playing again after what happened so that is a postive.

What does Vinnie being heavy set have to do with anything?? I like the band ok, a few catchy tunes but nothing over the top.-TJ

If I want to hear 'southern metal', as much as I hate most of what typifies it, I'll firstly throw on some later COC... and maybe, just maybe, if I can pretend Phil Anselmo is invisible, Down. Never BLS, Pantera, Hellyeah, or any of the 'beer drinkin hell raisin'' whatever.........stuff. I have brain cells to care for. Not many, but I do.

I'm Southern myself, being born in and lived in Florida all my life. I drink sweet tea, say 'ya'll', and I eat me the hell out of some grits. But I don't know about 'the southern spirit' as it's commonly perceived. I typically don't like that specific kind of cultural myopicism, some way everybody has to be if they're of a certain area, race, or etc. But I guess sometimes there can be something to it. I like a lot of aspects of what comes with living here. But I wasn't in the Civil War, nor do I have descendants who were (my family is a good three quarters German ancestry), and I'm pretty 'post modern' in a lot of ways, so I can't really say I espouse the vast stereotype. If someone gets something out of a presentation that isn't garbage though I guess some of it isn't so bad.
My girlfriend/fiance is English, she goes to Cambridge. That's all I could think of to say relating to the last part of what you said. We make fun of stereotypical southern/English stuff all the time.

The little I've heard of them didn't do anything for me. I've passed over used copies quite a few times.

the sterotype is as follows
evereyone watches nascar everyone goes nuts for college football everyone owns guns everyone owns pick up trucks everyone listens to country and western are generally religious fundamenatlists hence the term bible belt etc etc
the southern spirit is the attitude of people in the south who seem to give two fingers to everyone else and just do what they want - or thats how i would see it is someone asked me what the southern spirit is.
and yes spice girls embodie the british spirit. i love the spice girls
