Over at the power pop overdose blogspot their running a top 200 Power Pop records poll where people submit their 5 favourite power pop records and the results get tallied up. I can't commit but if i did Black Vinyl Shoes would be a um shoe in!

I've never been able to replace my vinyl of this so I broke down and got this from the Shoes site. It's decribed as a "CDR"; so hopefully it's quality, but maybe not. Sometimes I've ended up buying something that I could have just burned off my old vinyl, but sometimes it's actually a nice product. Takin' a chance here.
I've never known this to have been remastered at any point. There's no excuse for that considering all the crap that gets re-issued these days.

Actually in '88 Present Tense and Tongue Twister were reissued on the same disc.....but Black Vinyl Shoes i don't think has even got a rerelease.

Which is a crying shame, that record and band is a pillar of classic 70's pop rock.

Your right alot of rubbish gets re-issued these days, i think they've got to prioritize things. Hell the Blasters widely lauded and popular S/T is still trapped in its wax prison. Where are the labels?

I fear this is the band's burn of that disc. Production on CD was so crappy back then, this really needs to be re-mastered. Several songs off Black Vinyl were on their "Best of" disc, but again, the crappy production. One can always hope for the best anyway.

I listened to the first 3 songs. Its good but again he doesnt know how to mix his albums properly. Ripper is burried in the mix so low. I was hoping for a more cleaner sound with this album but so far so good. Its typical Yngwie so you'll know what to expect.

That being said, I still want to hear this because of Owens vocals moreso than Yank-wie's shedding. I haven't purchased a Malmsteen cd in years, but this one grabbed my interest.

Well he does have other albums where they arent so low so yea I was expecting this one to be a little louder otherwise why write lyrics? He writes everything himself so you cant really outshine him just by turning up the vocals a smidge its all his stuff anyway. Its good though. I finished listening to it a while ago.
