| I recently got a DVD of The Doors from 1972. I had no idea they ever did anything after Jim died. great band though. I've had all the albums since I was like 10 or something. | |

They released two lp's after Jim died; "Other Voices" and "Full Circle."

| I have always thought that Morrison was a musical pioneer vocally in that he was one of the first to go from gentleness to rage in his style,he was essentially a prototype of metal singers before metal really existed widely.Didn't the Doors hit in 67 ? I believe it was 68 when Blue Cheer came out with 'Summertime Blues" where you could hear what was eventually to become speed/thrash metal in the longer original version of the song...... | |

That's a good point, but Morrison was primarily influenced by blues and R&B singers who had been doing the whole "whisper to a shout" thing since the 40's (listen to someone like Big Joe Turner as an example). |

Summertime blues came out in the summer of love:1967. Great band! I was lucky enough to see them and meet them a few years back. It was a great show and yes it was LOUD!!

| Anyone heard anything they've done lately? I thought they've had a couple different singers in the past decade or something and been playing live every once in a while. I know I've seen some recordings out there I've just never took a chance on them. | |

Well,I'll be the first to admit it but I don't go that far back, just too many power/prog cds to get now. When it comes to The Doors though, and I know to some it makes me a rock n roll heretic(might as well be in that aspect as well )but unlike the Beatles I really do listen to some Doors occasionally.Of course I am extremely grateful to both as they influenced some of my favorite heavy bands - Sabbath,Trouble,Randy Rose

| Hey,I am guilty of having a "where did it come from" personality in just about everything, to quote Blue Oyster Cult "I'd like to know before I die",that about sums it up........ | |

| I suppose you meant what material we cover. I just added two new members, so our set will change a bit, all the classics plus some gems like; Hyacinth House Queen of the Highway Who Scared You We Could Be So Good Together The Soft Parade We intend to learn just about all of it as time allows, that way there will never be two shows alike. | |

| Sounds cool man, unique approach, make sure you enjoy every minute of it,one of the reasons I always liked Morrisons vocals was that that was the closest to my natural singing voice. When I would try to sing everything else I would partially mimic the vocalist of the band ,but when I sang along with Jim it was natural to me.I have acid reflux kind of bad now and can't hardly sing,it sucks, will send a request to add DOF to my Planet Doom site, would probably have been no Trouble or Randy Rose without the Lizard King........ All time favorite Doors song would probably be Riders On The Storm,Strange Days was cool too | |

| I'm looking forward to learning "The Celebration of the Lizard King." We used to do that piece when I was in Mojo Risin', one of my all time favorites to perform! | |

http://www.ridersonthestorm.com/ http://www.doors.com/[/quote] cool thanks for the info I thought they were going by yet another name. Never heard of the guy singing now or his multi-platnium band. I can't believe they wanted someone from American Idol.
