Which cover do you reckon is better?

Not so long ago, i found out that Iron Maiden didn't use a Derek Riggs submitted painting for the Wicker Man single....

Just wanted to know what you guys thought of the original and the rejected one....

The rejected one is WAY cooler. Surprised they didn't use that as a T-shirt at the very least.

i've always thought that, but.. a few years ago i did a report a college on Derek Rigss, and i had the chance to talk to him and he said that Maiden were totally ridiculous to work for and that he had to take the flack for when their ideas didn't turn out so good.....

Looks like a before and after shot to me. Both are cool.

I like the standing one better....but both are OK.....

Both are cool. I think I prefere the rejected one a little bit more...

Derek did many pieces of art for them that they never used. It's a shame too, as he is clearly the best artist they ever used.

I like the accepted piece the best but the rejected is cool too. Too bad Riggs didn't do the cover for Dance of Death. Egads that was awful!

I like the first one a little better. The burning wicker man looks awesome, but I don't really care for the stupid looking crowd.

Especially if you look on it with this comparision :

I like both, but the rejected one is cool.

I never did like the used version, the sky is grand but I never liked the burning figure.

As for the unused version, I love the sky and even the face made from the smoke but the hill and the burning fire don't do it for me.

both are cool. not every cover is gonna hit a grand slam... !

I was digging around and discovered this album title (run to the Sponge) and cover art originally expect for their 1982 release before they decided to name the album Number of the Beast:

I think both covers look cool. The rejected one looks really cool because, first, it is new to me, so it is fresh...second, because it has the smoke head design which ties in to the album.

I too think Dance with Death was pretty sad. Interesting idea, but the graphics could have been much better with today's technology.

Death on the Road was a killer cover. The new Life and Death CD is a cool cover (though musically hasn't inspired me much...yet).

The rejected one reminds me of BNW and so im gonna have to go with the one they're going to use.
