| All's I need is Iron Maiden - The Number Of The Beast - to round out my Maiden vinyl. It fetches the most on Ebay, so I'm holding out. | |

Yeah, me too. The redone cover of the CD remaster looks stupid - like they're trying too hard to make Eddie look "evil". The original one is so cool because he looks like a cartoon and then he evolved into what he became later. Sometimes, it's best to just leave things as they were and not be ashamed of your innocence in the early days.
Another example of this, IMO, is the later altered cover art for JP's Rocka Rolla. Yea, I hate that "updated" version of the first Iron Maiden cover too. I always wondered why they bothered, because they didn't "update" any of the other covers in the remaster series. Although I believe that the original version of the cover is printed on the CD itself. I have JP's ROCKA ROLLA on vinyl (original cover) and CD (armored guy cover)... though I'd ditch that CD if I could find a CD copy with the bottle cap cover out there somewhere (I am told it does indeed exist). Fun fact about the "armored man" ROCKA ROLLA re-do... that picture is an early work by Melvyn Grant, who later would go on to paint Maiden's FEAR OF THE DARK cover. I'm told that the "new" ROCKA ROLLA cover (and the armored-guy painting on the cover of the HERO, HERO compilation album) were originally intended as cover ideas for the SCREAMING FOR VENGEANCE album that were rejected. _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

Well yea, the bottle-cap cover isn't very "metal" but I get a kick out of it anyway. Soooooo cheesy. Like the record label were trying to trick kids into thinking Judas Priest were some kind of bubble-gum pop band I also love the fact that Halford's name on the back is still "Bob" on the old ROCKA ROLLA LP (he was not yet "Rob") and he's credited not only with vocals, but harmonica!!! _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"
