| Time for a trivia question... Back when the Parents Music Resource Center (aka the PRMC) were taking their case of music censorship to the Supreme Court, they singled out 15 songs in particular (The Filthy Fifteen) that were said to be blatently offensive. Of those 15 songs, how many were hard rock/heavy metal? And how many can you name? No going to Wikipedia for the answer either. Let's see how good you guys really are. | |

| Zappa and Skid Row weren't, and I don't think Sheena Easton was either. Oh, and another W.A.S.P. - Animal (Smurf Like a Beast) | |

| I remember secretly listening to Side 2 of Purple Rain because my Mom had heard from some women at work that it was sexual. | |

| I actually remember most of this for the sheer ridiculousness....
PRINCE- "Darling Nikki" MOTLEY CRUE- "Bastard" SHEENA EASTON- "Sugar Walls" JUDAS PRIEST- "Eat Me Alive" TWISTED SISTER-"We're Not Gonna Take It" W.A.S.P. "Animal (F**k Like A Beast)" DEF LEPPARD-"High 'n Dry" CYNDI LAUPER- "She Bop"
those are the only songs I am sure of...I know there was a MADONNA tune and I think MERCYFUL FATE...not sure without looking it up...
TS and DEF LEP are silly to be on there....but then was not the PMRC silly? _________________ "Oh man, I need TV? When I got T Rex"

| Mary Jane Girls - My House Or something like that. Rearrange the words in some order I think we've probably got them all between us now. | |

| From the ones I can remember: W.A.S.P.- Animal (F*ck Like A Beast) Prince- Darling Nikki Black Sabbath- Trashed Cyndi Lauper- She Bop AC/DC- Let Me Put My Love Into You Twisted Sister- We're Not Gonna Take It Mercyful Fate- Into The Coven Venom- Possessed Judas Priest- Eat Me Alive (I'm pretty positive on this one, although it could've been a different song) Sheena Easton- Sugar Walls (I think) Motley Crue- Bastard Vanity- Nasty Girl?? Madonna- Dress Me Up?? Def Leppard- High N' Dry Mary Jane Girls- In The House? In My House? OR it could've been something by Wendy O, I remember Mrs.Whore holding up her album on tv. Thats about what I think is right. So that'd be about 9 (or 10 if it really was a Wendy O Willams song on there) that'd be rock/metal. And I know Zappa was at the trial, but I dont think he made the list at all. | |

| I don't think ZAPPA ever had enough mainstream/commercial success to be viewed as a viable threat.... _________________ "Oh man, I need TV? When I got T Rex"

| I really think when it came right down to it, Zappa was too smart for them. I mean if you think about it, sure he was outright offensive to some, but he did it very classy. | |

She had "Rise Of The Mutants" with her when she was on tv, and there were a few more too.

| I remember Jello was on Donahue (or some other jackass) with Tipper. He was dressed in a suit, and when he was allowed to speak came off as very intelligent (which he is). As soon as they figured out that Jello was not gonna be a pushover, they kept interrupting him and not letting him speak any longer. Brutal. I wanted to punch the tv. |

Only thing that might sound better is "Animal (F*ck Like a Smurf)" I think Smurf (Smurf like a Smurf) would sound cooler. The smurfs only have a couple of words in their vocabulary anyway. - Shiney wrote:
3 Judas- Priest Eat Me Alive
I would be scared if there was a song called "Priest Eat Me Alive"

| You know what gets me? There's just as much pop/dance music on that list as there is hard rock/heavy metal and yet all they focused on was the evil heavy metal songs. I had a couple of cousins who, back in the 80's, were the self righteous, holier than thou, smurfholes who felt it was their personal mission in life to eradicate heavy metal from the earth. Smurfin' losers!
Rant over. | |
