| It's been AT LEAST 23 years since I've heard the album in its entirety (if I ever actually did hear it all at one time. ) Back then the older kids in the neighborhood had it. I wasn't deep into metal yet, but I remember loving this. WELL, lately I've been collecting some vinyl, as some of you know, to accompany me whilst I lift weights in the garage. Stay Hungry is awesome!! That word gets thrown around too much, but this album is just incredible. I'm now 100% convinced and positive that certain metal - especially older or rawer stuff - was meant for Vinyl. I was truly blown away. I'd heard it as a kid on cassette but never on Vinyl. WOW!!!!! The combination of the great song writing, the heaviness and Dee Snider's "made for Metal" voice just comes together in brilliance!!!! Share with me in my joy!! | |

| You will get no argument from me. I thought the production could have been a little "heavier", but otherwise, a great album full of excellent songs. _________________ ULTIMATUM - TOO METAL FOR WIKIPEDIA!

| The production on that album completely, totally, utterly sucks but even that can't hide the fact that it is indeed a classic. Every song on STAY HUNGRY rules. It was the soundtrack to my life for at least a year back in high school. _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

| I havn't ever listened to the whole lp (really) My appreciation for the Under The Blade lp is still there after all these years. This was due to seeing them at a small civic center in riverside, calif. Opening band of a triple bill that featured Krokus and Blackfoot. They did a rippin cover of The Stones' "It's Only Rock n Roll" and played better than the other two bands that particular evening. They did a show in Sturgis a few years ago while I was there but I didn't see it. Wish I would of though, heard it was great. Been planning on gettting more familar with more of the bands stuff. This surprises me. I'm usually very sensitive to production, being spoiled by modern bands like Masterplan, Blind Guardian, Allen/Lande, and other Euro Powermetal and Melodic Metal bands. I really didn't think anything was wrong with this one. Huh? Maybe it's because I heard it then so it was no surprise this time? | |

I didnt like the production of the new version "Still Hungry"

They needed a heavier sound and that album would have annihilated. Unfortunately at the time squeeky clean is what was "in" and selling. _________________ ULTIMATUM - TOO METAL FOR WIKIPEDIA!

| Oh! Maybe my 30 year old record player with its' 30 year old needle is mucking up the production to perfection?!?! It sounded so heavy to me! Maybe I'm too used to the slick Melodic Rock of 2000+ times and that's why it sounds so heavy? Either way, I was floored by what I was hearing. I was lifting in the garage and my girls were playing with chalk in the driveway and the 4 year old was flinging the "Metal Horns" during We're Not Gonna Take It. I'm sure passers-by were wondering what kind of hellions I'm raising! | |

Hey, I was gonna comment on the Pee Wee Herman movie!! I've met Dee Snider once, before TS reunited, and he was touring Sweden with his SMF band. He had just finished shooting Stranglenad, so he still had that red hair. He looked mean! Very cool guy though. _________________

Stay Hungry is an awesome album. I think the production is great and is certainly plenty heavy. I grew up on the album so I'm a little biased. I haven't heard the re-recording yet, for that matter I haven't heard Stay Hungry in a few years. Need to listen to this album.

I haven't heard the re-recording yet, for that matter I haven't heard Stay Hungry in a few years. Need to listen to this album. I just picked up Still Hungry last week. The jury is still out on whether I like the re-recordings or not. When you grow up with an album, you get so used to hearing it a certain way that now it sounds a little weird. The new songs tacked on as bonus tunes are pretty cool though.

| One of the best heavy metal albums ever recorded. Period. It is true that the production is a tad........crud. It shows in particular when some of the higher pitched sounds come through the speakers. I think everyone here probably remembers that annoying little TCHING TCHING TCHING TCHING during the chorus of "We're Not Gonna Take It". Other than that, a great record. It also shows how versatile a band they are, even with just guitars and drums. They do everything from speed ("Stay Hungry") to doom ("Nature of the Beast"). And the background vocals are PERFECT for this type of music. Oh, and of course Dee Snider and the gang are unbeatable when it comes to crafting hooks. | |
