Playing in manchester with Evile and Job For A Cowboy. Pretty damn excited, anyone else seen them live before? How are they?

Saw them for the second time last night in Birmingham. They were incredibly good, literally one of the best gigs I've been to. You'll have a great time tonight, mate. Great set list, even if it doesn't have Sweating Bullets.

Enjoy the show. I've seen Meagdeth numerous times over the years, featuring numerous line-ups and have never been disappointed.

The show was EXCELLENT! Exile played an awesome 6 song set, great communication with the audience, great riffs, great solos - simply a very thrash show. Job for a Cowboy were poorly recieved by the audience, including boos and thrown bottles (about an eighth of us liked 'em, including me) yet they played their full 8 song set with a great stage presence and enthusiasm nonetheless.

Then Megadeth. Well, there were a few slight problems, but they were nothing to do with the band. First of all, some cokehead scalley with a megadeth shirt over his tracksuit top tried to push his way to the front in a 'friendly' manner, telling everyone that he loves Megadeth and wanted to see Dave 'Moostain'. He said he's been wanting to see them for 12 years, I asked him what his favourite album was, he paused and said "well...twelve years, innit?" He shouted 'Dave!' everytime sound tech guy stepped on stage too. After Job for a Cowboy's set, he took off (after smoking a spliff and two cigarettes in quite a compact crowd), I presume he thought they were Megadeth. Also, there were a ton of idiots with cameras pushing their way to the front as soon as 'Deth came on, I freakin' hate people that come to gigs just to take pictures, he literally pushed his way right to the front row, pushing half of my friends to the side of an amp where they had no view whatsoever. Also, the sound tech was terrible with 'Deth....no idea why, it was fine with the other bands.

But still, it was MEGADETH! It was an awesome show. He met Chris Broderick and Shawn Drover before the show (we did get there 6 hours early, so we deserved it). Shawn in particular was really curtious, stopping to sign everything for everyone and get in pictures with people. Then James Lomenzo came out and did the same, and was really down to earth and friendly. Dave passed us once or twice as he was escorted from building to building but he didn't look to good, asked how we were on the way passed but really didn't look happy. Still, he put on an awesome show, and still played with enthusiasm and charisma. Afterwards we got in some pictures with Shawn and Chris again, and had Chris, Shawn and James to sign my Megadeth shirt. Also got chatting to Ol and Mike from Evile, bought a double vinyl from their manager (apparently the first one they'd sold on tour) and had it signed, apparently the other two guys had gone to watch Rambo in the cinema, haha! Laughing

Awesome show, awesome day, great guys to meet and watch. Too bad there were too many dumbasses in the crowd (especially the camera guys).

Saw them last year on Gigantour. There were some electrical problems and Dave threw his guitar on the stage and walked off. The crowd became quite distressed afterwards. The kids next to us even left, assuming that Dave was throwing a tantrum.

Fortunately, he came back on and apologized, saying that there were electrical problems with his guitar. Then he went into five magics. It was amazing! They put on a kickass live show!

Ps. Glen Drover is teaching guitar lessons at the Brampton Long and Mcquade and my friend got lucky enough to get one from him today! Pretty sweet ehh. Cool

Hey Muloc, when Dave did his talking to the crowd with us, he sounded like he was getting one hell of a cold - perhaps that's why he looked rather unhappy on arrival? Still, awesome you got to meet the rest of the band. Me and my friend got lost on the way to Birmingham, so we missed Evile and most of Job for a Cowboy. We weren't really familiar with either though, so we didn't mind much.

And yeah, the Birmingham had literally the most aggressive crowd I've ever seen. There was such a huge, perpetual crush throughout the gig - it was insane! Still, managed to get a good view so I'm not complaining. Can't wait for them t o come back to the UK!

I went to see Megadeth Last night at the Brixton Academy in London.

They played a good and varied set, but was dissappointed with the sound. Very flat. I thought it was the venue as I have seen quite a lot of bands at this venue recently and a lot of them had a poor sound but from some of the other posts on this thread it seems this has been the same for Megadeth at other venues.

Also, this gig was advertised as Gigantour. What a a load of sh*t. 2 support bands does not make this gigantour. I know this wasn't the bands fault as an interview I read in Powerplay magazine with Dave said it was th concert promotors. Shame, I want a full Gigantour festival in the UK.

I saw Gigantour on Sunday night. Megadeth were great, but it was freakin' cold outside so I left after about an hour into Megadeth's set. I've seen Megadeth 4x in the last few years and they always put on a great show.

A couple odd things happened during the band's set. When Dave first walked out on stage and started playing the first chords of "Sleepwalker", his guitar wasn't working properly, so he took it off and threw it down on the stage and walked off to grab a different guitar. The guitar made a huge crashing sound, which lasted only a moment before the sound guys cut the sound to Dave's guitar. He was visibly ticked off, but came out and just shredded for the rest of the set.

In the middle of Hanger 18 Dave's amp blew up, leaving the rest of the band to finish the song, which they did up through the slightly extended guitar solo. At that point Dave walked out and gave the band the "cut" at which time he announced, "my amp just f*ckin blew up, give us a few minutes to change it out and we'll be right back". They were gone only a minute or so and came back out and tore up "Ashes in Your Mouth".

Despite the technical difficulties, Dave & Co. still put on a good show. I've been on a Megadeth kick all week long since seeing them.

I think this was the set list, but I might be leaving out a song or two...

1. Sleepwalker
2. Wake Up Dead
3. Take No Prisoners
4. Skin O’ My Teeth
5. Washington Is Next
6. Gears Of War
7. Kick The Chair
8. In My Darkest Hour
9. Hangar 18
10. Ashes In Your Mouth
11. Burnt Ice
12. Trust
13. Tornado Of Souls
14. Symphony Of Destruction
15. Peace Sells
16. Holy Wars

Also on the bill was
High on Fire (terrible sound. All you could hear was bass and drums. The guitars were buried. Still, I dug 'em. Might have to check them out.)

Job for a Cowboy (I thought they were boring, generic sounding death metal. Stupid band name too.)

Children of Bodom (really dug their set. I haven't really gotten heavily into these guys over the years. Might have to pick up their latest. Their guitarist was playing a pink Jackson Rhoads V. It had pink inlays in the neck and was pretty cool looking, at least I thought it was. Some guys behind me were making fun of it saying it was a merry guitar. For one song he played a yellow Jackson. Afterwards their roadie brought the pink V back out and the guys behind be were, "he's playing that merry pink guitar again." Some people get offended over some stupid crap. LOL!)

In Flames (put on a good show. Not a big fan. They played this one new song that was melodic with clean vocals that I really liked. Too bad they ruined it at the end by announcing, "that's enough of the kitten metal, now we'll play some real metal."

Don't pick up the very latest CoB (Blooddrunk), it's a bit average. Are You Dead Yet?, the album before, is very enjoyable though. Sounds like Gigantour was a good gig. I didn't like Job For A Cowboy either, they were just really boring.

Admittedly, I haven't listened to the whole album yet, but what I have heard... it sounds sort of like they just didn't put the effort in. It sounds very much like they're 'going through the motions' and from what I've heard from others, that's the consensus. It's not bad, but it's certainly not up to CoB's high standards.

How are the vocals on the last couple CDs?

Lower than before. They're not gutteral death metal vocals or anything, they're just more akin to aggressive shouting than they are to the more extreme vocals of Hatebreeder and the like. Works quite well, but as I say, it's not a huge difference. I doubt Alexi Laiho will gain the ability to sing, let alone incorporate it into CoB's sound any time soon. I'm not sure I'd want it any other way either, hahaha.
