located in Russia and a storm of confusion about legality and legit releases ensued. CDs from Nuclear Hell are all legit but they're manufactured in Russia and sometimes contain bonus tracks not available in the US. Yup! That's never been a problem for me. If NuclearHell somehow has the right to do it (no matter what's written on the CD) I'm game. I LOVE Irond for what they offer. Often their stuff is far superior to the US release and rarely inferior.
For some reason folks will say they're "Russian boots"....whatever..... Okay, here's the deal with the Russian licensed CDs - they are considered what is called gray market. Which means they are sort of illegal to be sold outside the designated region. The whole idea of the Russian CDs is to present a "legal" cheap substitute to originals on Russian market so Russian buyers can afford them. It also serves the purpose of giving the official licensing rights to big Russian labels which then control the local market and weed the bootlegs. For that purpose Irond, CD Max, Soyusz, etc. pay next to nothing for licensing them, and are selling them retail on Russian market at about $5 ($3 wholesale) so they are very attractive for eBay re-sellers which can pass them for originals and scam buyers $12-15. And yes, because in Russia everything is cheaper, the Russian labels are able to press way superior copies production-wse than the original western releases. But the problem is - if you buy it, the band dont get anything from it. It is a flaw the corporate labels have created themselves and need to work out solwing somehow.

That's all good info Stormspell. How does Nuclearhell/Selling on Adrenaline get around the legality? He's been doing it for years and years and seems to be going strong. Also - what about Scarecrow (Arise). They seem to be a Mexican/South American label. Are these "grey"? Thanks!

Pretty much the same here, except I don't recall ever getting anything from Amazon. I still brouse the used sections at FYE and occasionally make a trip to Best Buy, but those days are getting few & far between. Looking forward to the spring when the local flea markets will be coming back.

Also - what about Scarecrow (Arise). They seem to be a Mexican/South American label. Are these "grey"? Thanks! I can only speculate Nuclearhell goes under the radar coz they do not state the CDs are Russian and pass them around as originals. Plus as I said earlier, those CDs are gray market and it is hard to control from legal standpoint. Scarecrow are Mexican label licensing re-releases for the Mexican market - gray if sold outside Mexico yes. Arise were Spanish label but they went belly up recently and are no more as far as I know.
