You don't think they spiced the song up? Dylan is a great writer but lacked any sort of energy in his music. I like the MCR version a lot and hope they stay this classic rock sounding course they are on. The song has a Meat Loaf vibe to it, well IMO.

I think Bob Dylan's version is perfect the way it is and anyway it is about feeling and meaning of what lyrics convay. At best their version was ok, but saying it give it a Meatloaf vibe I can buy that since both Meatloaf and MCR try to make their music sound large and epic.

Yes, the Dylan version fits his style cuz thats his style. I never was a fan of lyricists, I am more about songwriting and the way the lyrics are sang to the music. If the songwriting is there then I will listen.

Dylan IMO is a lyricist first and performer second. But I really cant tell the difference in what he is feeling as he sings in the same tone on every song. Dylans music bores me to tears but thats just my opinion.

Dylan is a musician first, songwriter/poet second and performer a distant third, if you think he sings in the same tone and same key in every song put your guitar down and open your ears, I am not saying you'll become a fan but don't make statements that are not supported by facts. Dylan's songs have been covered by variety of artists including Johnny Cash, Ministry, Elvis Presley, Guns n Roses, Frank Sinatra, Jimi Hendrix, Concrete Blonde, Garth Brooks, Emmylou Harris, The Rolling Stones, My Chemical Romance, and many many more. I am sure they would disagree with you in that all songs were song in same tone or written in the same key.

I don't think any song of artist is too precious for anyone to cover, if MCR want to cover Dylan so be it, if Blink 182 want to cover the Only Ones so be it etc.

I like that MCR cover, Way gives a very (Johnny) rotten vocal performance and you got laugh at all the peacock punks Laughing .........did i see a Lords Of The New Church back patch in that clip?

I actually like My Chemical Romance, at least the one album I own by them, also thought at least songs I heard from 'Black Parade' where interesting, who in this day and age makes a concept album and the damn thing goes platinum? Amazing plus some of singles they used play on our local alternative rock station from the Black Parade album had a Queen like vibe. Cool band but I was not overly impressed with their cover one of my favorite Bob Dylan tunes.

Like i said before i don't think songs/artists are to precious to cover, i mean Blink 182 covered one of my fave songs the Only Ones "Another Girl, Another Planet" but you wouldn't hear a peep outta me about them not being "worthy" or something like that.

Anyway i really like the Black Parade........very Queen like, also throw Bowie and surprisingly T. Rex in.........

If you are saying Dylan can sing then we are listening to 2 different people here. I never said he sings in the same key, I said he has that same nasaly tone. Why are all the songs he wrote that are performed by other bands better? He is a great writer but hearing him sing his songs doesn't work for me and it sounds almost hilarious.

De what I was saying is there aren't any Dylan songs that are upbeat that I can really get into.

All in all Dylans almost folk like playing style isn't for me and his performances and music bore me to tears. If someone like Jeff Buckley was singing them then maybe I would be a fan. To each there own..

If a fan of either MCR or Blink 182 pick up a Bob Dylan album or The Only Ones album due to hearing a cover version than I think it is great and you are right their is no song to scared to cover, actually that is how discovered Slade, T.Rex, and lots of blues artist I like where do to cover tunes.

As for Metal Rob's assuration that Bob Dylan's voice is not his cup of tea, fair enough people have been saying that since his debut album was released in 1962, and the fact that you don't like it or it bores you to tears it has Dylan crying all the way to the bank.

I can actually say I never bought an album with a cover on it. 70% of my cd collection is CDR's ripped by a friend. I also never bought any of the bands that made his songs famous for him.

I'm sure all those bands thank you for your support of their careers. Make sure you take one of those CDRs to the next concert you go to and try to get them to sign it for you.

I support my favorite artists and own about 100 cds I bought. I only buy cd's from my favorite bands. The other CDR's are imports or others that are not easily obtainable through stores. I dont purchase music online and never considered myself a collector. I purcahsed over 600 cds between the ages of 16-18 and sold most of them all from being broke. If my friend has a cd I am interested in checking out, he will rip it for me. If I like it enough I purchase it, if it is available in stores.

As far as taking it to a concert, I have been to one concert in the last 5 years and that was to see Alter Bridge in Philly in Oct 07.

If you ever seen a movie with a Bob Dylan song in it whether performed by him or another artist than you supported Bob Dylan with your money, of course your going to tell me a) Never seen a movie with Bob Dylan song in it b) You don't pay for movies you sneak in or c) A friend burns you 70% of DVD collection. E) You only watch silent movies

Since 70% of CD collection is burned CDR's you seem not support any artist, well with the expection of Alter Bridge.

Its just so hard for me to shell out money for a band I am not familiar with. If I hear it and like it then I will purchase it if I can find it. Most of the bands I do like really don't get releases in stores like FYE or Best Buy. I find it there occasionally but not as often as I would like.

That is because both store suck and FYE charges way too much money for a new CD.

I go on Amazon a lot but most of the cd's I have seen or have been interested in are usually over the $20 mark becuae they haven't been released yet in the US. Maybe I should dig deeper.
